website's Issues

Allow to automatically generate tag pages

Currently, the tags added to each post are linked to a web page filtering the posts to the only ones containing that tag.

Such page as to be created manually right now. It would be simple to generate them from the tags found in the posts.

The <li> in the navigation should be "active"

The part of code generated in the file "_includes/header.html" by this part :

    {% for page in site.pages %} {% if page.title %}
  • {{ page.title }}
  • {% endif %} {% endfor %}

Should put an 'class="active"' on the "li" where we are currently on.

Recent news about SAT : date should be the date of the Event ?

An interesting feature should be to put the date of the event in the <span class="label label-default">Date of the event</span>.

Because for now, the displayed date is the <span class="label label-default">Date of the post</span> so if a post is made a long time in advance, the event can be "lost" under all the posts who are post more recently...

For example, the ACAI’15 Summer School is posted on the 20th may 2015 but the event starts on the 26th of October.

That means that if we are on the beginning of October and we want to find the post about this event, we have to scroll through all the events who were posted between the 20th may and the beginning of October, which is not convenient to find something that happen in only few days.

Proposition of display the list of news

Because for now, the tag is not very visible.
(In fact, I just payed attention few minutes ago.)

Why we don't put the tag on the same line as the title (with a margin : 5px; for when we are on smartphone) like this :

list

We can also put an assigned color of label for each tag, to be able to recognize them from far.
It will be more attractive for the eye.

Move books to a separate page

The books about SAT are currently displayed on the side. I am thinking about moving them on a separate web page.

Feedback about this idea is welcome.

Upcoming deadlines should precise the year

Upcoming deadlines should precise the year.

For example the event AIML'16 is scheduled on the August 1st.
But it's in 2016, not 2015 as we could believe, even if in this case it's obvious (because of '16), on another event, it could create a confusion..

How to notify users without sending emails?

Due to heavy spamming, many IAP greylist smtp server sending emails to lists of people.

SatLive! currently provides an RSS flux for notifying users but they are not all happy with that.

One specific solution does exist for Apple/Safari fans: there is a notification system which can be used to notify users of new resources on the web site.

There is probably an alternatives for Google/Android/Chrome. Not sure about Windows.

Any ideas welcome.
