NotepadBlack to display UTF-8 character set

Standard notepad from microsoft (included in windows 10) hadles UTF-8 just fine...

Try using åäö ÅÄÖ för example, works fine in Notepad, but opening the file in NotepadBlack results in corrupt characters.

Cannot Open Set Black Notepad as Default Text Editor

After several unsuccessful attempts at setting this app as my default text editor instead of the normal notepad program, I am losing hope.

I downloaded the app from the windows store and after a fair bit of searching, I found that it had saved itself into the 'Windows Apps' folder within my program files. I tried to set this app as the default by going through the standard 'open with' steps, then navigating to the folder where it is located.

This is where the first problem came up, I was told I couldn't access the files within this folder because I didn't have the correct permissions to do so, annoying and seemingly unnecessary, but a quick change to the ownership of the folder resolved this one.

Next up once I actually got to the file and selected it, I get this error message:
"Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item"
To be clear the file I am trying to access is just an ordinary text file in my google drive folder and it opens up fine in the normal Notepad program.

To try to get around this I created a shortcut to the program, put this in a separate folder (also in my google drive), and then selected this as the program to open the files with. No luck I get the same error message as before.

So.. I then resort to just copying the entire selection of folders (4 folders within the windows apps folder in my program files) into my google drive folder, but again when I select the file, it doesn't want to play ball and I get the same error message. To add to this and just to be sure, I also went to the parent folder I had now placed the files in and changed all the ownership and permissions to my own in a hope that this would make the sufficient difference that was needed, however, unfortunately, it still didn't work.

I did download the application again here from GitHub hoping that would be a slightly different version that would allow me to use it properly however I couldn't find an executable file within this zip folder, and therefore resorted back to the windows store version.

The problem is not just limited to me not being able to set the program as my default launcher, I am literally unable to open existing files with it! The strange thing is that I can open the files if I open them from within the program through: Files ---> Open in the toolbar but obviously that's a workaround, not a solution.

Please can anyone offer some suggestions and assistance with this, I like the app and I want to work with it but I feel like I've already wasted so much of my time on something that should be very simple.

Running on Windows 10 Pro.

Thankyou in advance.

Make BlackNotepad Open a Double-Clicked File Without Doing an Additional File > Open

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
I installed BlackNotepad v.1.0.9.0 through the Microsoft Store. I managed to set BlackNotepad to open .txt files by default using my Windows 10's Settings.

When I double-click an existing text file within File Explorer, BlackNotepad launches, but as a blank file:
image
The same behavior occurs when I right-click a file and choose "Open".
In order to access the content of the document, I must click File > Open each time I am opening a document this way.

Describe the solution you'd like
It would be awesome if double-clicking a .txt file (and right-click > Open) would result in BlackNotepad both launching and opening the document that was double-clicked, without the need to click File > Open every time. For example, after double-clicking an existing text file called Foo.txt, BlackNotepad should open as follows:
image

Describe alternatives you've considered
Since the desired behavior that was mentioned in the Describe the solution you'd like section is how Windows' Notepad behaves (and is, perhaps, the most intuitive behavior,) I couldn't come up with alternative solutions.

Additional context
I searched the internet for alternative solutions, such as running a command each time a file is double-clicked, but this solution applies only to application files (e.g., .exe,) and one needs to repeat those changes per every instance of a file they wish to open this way. I couldn't find other applicable solutions.
In addition, I tried my best to look through the existing issues, but none is closely associated with the particularities of this feature request, which is the reason this issue was created. I apologize if I missed anything.
Thank you very much for your consideration!

No scrollbars

Describe the bug
No scrollbars appear when text goes off screen

To Reproduce
Open a file that has enough text to go off screen.

Expected behavior
Vertical and horizontal scrollbars should become visible when text goes beyond either direction.

Feature Request - Font size?

Just installed this fro the windows store and there does not seem to be a option to change font size.

Thanks for reply.

There isn't any way of making the app open .txt files by default.

Using the File>Open solution works but is very tedious. It would be really nice if we were able to set this app as the default to open .txt files. I've tried everything but to my knowledge there is no way of doing it in the app's current state. Could you please add this? Not being able to start this app instead of the Notepad app really defeats the whole purpose of this app.
Maybe you could release your app as a .exe, so that we can select it in the "Right Click">"Open With" menu.
Thanks in advance!

Remember history / ability to pin to start

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
Notepad has a recent history and the ability to pin documents:

BlackNotepad unfortunately does not:

Describe the solution you'd like
Implement this feature.

Describe alternatives you've considered
No alternatives.

Additional context
There's a very real possibility this is related to #19 #15 #13 #10 (file associations)

No print option

There is no option to print or to use keyboard print shortcut.

File Associations

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
There is no option in the "Open With..." dialog of windows 10 to open a file in BlackNotepad, even a .txt file

Describe the solution you'd like
BlackNotepad should register itself in the Apps available to open files, so that we can select it for any file

Describe alternatives you've considered
Opening the file with the EXE path of NotepadBlack - found from running the program as administrator from the start menu: C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\55809savaged.BlackNotepad_1.0.8.0_neutral__p2aarvyam9pfc\BlackNotepad\BlackNotepad.exe

This does not work however, windows gives an error when trying to open a file with this EXE:

Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item.

Additional context
