Wow that's a great question! I think you can get around triplets to some extent if you use the noteLength property. By default it is 1/16.. you can change that to something else.. for instance try this to see what I mean,

var scribble = require('scribbletune');

scribble.clip({
    notes: 'c4',
    pattern: 'x'.repeat(12),
    noteLength: 1/12
});

scribble.midi(clip);

Pull this inside whatever music software you use and play it against a metronome. It certainly won't create triplets but it might give you an idea to workaround.

If that doesn't help then lemme know... let's come up with a spec for this!
