🌐 List of languages

Translations in languages other than English are machine translated and are not yet accurate. No errors have been fixed yet as of February 5th 2021. Please report translation errors here make sure to backup your correction with sources and guide me, as I don't know languages other than English well (I plan on getting a translator eventually) please cite wiktionary and other sources in your report. Failing to do so will result in a rejection of the correction being published.

Note: due to limitations with GitHub's interpretation of markdown (and pretty much every other web-based interpretation of markdown) clicking these links will redirect you to a separate file on a separate page that isn't in the same part of the repository homepage. You will be redirected to the seanpm2001/GitHub_Organization_Info repository, in the /.github/ folder, where the README is hosted.

Translations are done with Google Translate due to limited or no support for the languages I need in other translation services like DeepL and Bing Translate. For some reason, the formatting (links, dividers, bolding, italics, etc.) is messed up in various translations. It is tedious to fix, and I do not know how to fix these issues in languages with non-latin characters, and right to left languages (like Arabic) extra help is needed in fixing these issues

Due to maintenance issues, over 25 translations are out of date and are using Version 8 or Version 9 of this README file. A translator is needed. Also, as of April 1st 2021, it is going to take me a while to get all the new links working.

🎌️ Flag guide 🎌️

🚩️🏴️🏳️ Flags were beginning to get added in version 2 of this document. I was originally just going to add the Ukraine 🇺🇦️ flag, but decided to add more, until every language had at least 1 flag. They were done purely with the existing knowledge of the developer. In version 3, flags were added for every language. There are some notes that go with this:

🌐️ [Unions 🇪🇺️ and Nations 🇺🇳️] 🌐️

Languages listed here that are official languages of the European Union have a European Union flag 🇪🇺️ next to them. As of 2022 March 14th, there are currently 27 languages recognized by the European Union, from 27 different member states.

Languages listed here that are official languages of the United Nations have a United Nations flag 🇺🇳️ next to them. As of 2022 March 14th, there are currently 6 languages recognized by the European Union (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, and Spanish) alongside 193 different member states and 2 observer states.

🌏️ [One China (PRC) 🇨🇳️ Two China (Taiwan) 🇹🇼️ Hong Kong 🇭🇰️ and Macau 🇲🇴️] 🌏️

For neutrality reasons, languages listed here that have an official majority in Chinese speakers will receive all 4 of these flags, even if the language isn't Chinese or in the Sino family of languages.

Currently, 1 global language is listed, and that is Esperanto. Esperanto is not native to any countries, its goal is to be a universal lingua franca (Latin translation: bridge language) it is represented with a globe with meridians or 🌐️

Sexuality is not measured here, I feel it would be unnecessary, as you are picking out a language, not a sexuality.

Flags are located at the end of each language name (after the Romanization) with one space before, to the right.

I was so angry and frustrated. I didn't save the file, and my computer randomly froze up twice, then crashed. I had to re-add all the flags, it took an hour to do so originally, and I was just seconds away from finishing. I couldn't save the file quick enough. Luckily, all the research was still in my head, and there was no data that wasn't easily replacable (identically) so it is a type of important work that was the best thing to lose, since it was the easiest to recreate, taking me less than 20 minutes

Other notes:

⚠️ A language is missing: Latvian

ℹ️ Possibly supporting the next 126 languages that are going to be added to Google Translate

🗜️ Plans to automate this process with the @AUTOMATE2001 bot

⛔️ Need to find a way to work with these languages on services other than Google Translate.

GitHub organization usage

This document goes over info related to my usage of GitHub organizations.

Monthly limit

I try to limit my creation of organizations to 10 per month to keep within the amount that can be displayed in my monthly log (exception months include September 2020 and April 2021)

Skeumorphism

I go out of my way to get images for the organizations featuring Skeumorphism or some form of gradient, as I hate flat design/material design. Most images are placeholders for now, and I don't own the rights to them.

As a playlist or project

I use organizations as a playlist or a project of different repositories. There are multiple layers to this at times.

Layer 1

Layer 1 projects are the main projects of the category, and are typically pinned to the top.

Layer 2

Layer 2 are sub-category projects and generally have to be searched for.

Layer 3

Layer 3 projects are forks of other projects. I do not own these most of the time, but they link directly to the creator.

Cybersquatting

I am not cybersquatting, due to my inclusion of a brand word in the name of the organization. Some organizations, such as NimbleBit-Games are placeholder names, and will be changed upon NimbleBit/Other companies request, although the username "NimbleBit" has been taken since 2011.

All of my works are free some restrictions. DRM (Digital Restrictions Management) is not present in any of my works.

This sticker is supported by the Free Software Foundation. I never intend to include DRM in my works.

I am using the abbreviation "Digital Restrictions Management" instead of the more known "Digital Rights Management" as the common way of addressing it is false, there are no rights with DRM. The spelling "Digital Restrictions Management" is more accurate, and is supported by Richard M. Stallman (RMS) and the Free Software Foundation (FSF)

This section is used to raise awareness for the problems with DRM, and also to protest it. DRM is defective by design and is a major threat to all computer users and software freedom.

Here are some future goals for the documentation of this project:

1. Pictures of each individual organization in Light, Dimmed, and Dark modes, for each individual organization
2. A metadata file that contains additional organization info (URL, description, twitter, email)
3. Fix the links to all images and organizations
4. Correct any typos in both the organization and the description.

[Goal/ToDo] Create new lighter versions

I am considering branching off versions of this repository to create lighter definitions of the project database. There will be separate branches/packages that reduce the size by:

Removing image files
Removing archive files (_V1, _V2, etc.)

This will be done on 3 branches:

branch://GOI_Lite_NoImage1 (just image files are removed)
branch://GOI_Lite_Extreme (image files and archive files are removed)
branch://GOI_Lite_Simple (just archive files are removed)

I don't know how to maintain it at the moment. If I create branches to do this, I would have to do the same thing to 2-4 branches. For now, this idea is on hold. This specific version of the database would reduce the download size by over 1 gigabyte.

I began adding the following structure to all daily entries in 2022:

Which is used to indicate that there is no data of these types for the specified days, and is a placeholder. It is a newer structure associated with the latest version of the entry README.md file. It was applied to 2022 January 1st to 2022 March 31st today, but needs to be applied to older entries, and older entries need to gain this README.md improvement. I don't feel like doing it today, so I am assigning it as a chore to do later.

[Maintenance/ToDo] MyGOI is severely out of date

The concept of MyGOI, the subproject that aims to let others create a similar GitHub organization Info project, is severely out of date, and needs maintenance. It is not functional, and it has hardly any structure to it. It may even need to be separated into another project.

Documentation issue: cannot locate 3 organizations

I have been spending a lot of time lately creating organization categories and documenting them. The documenting process was a bit newer, and it took me a while to catch up. On May 29th 2021, I finally got caught up, except for 3 organizations that I am having difficulty finding and separating from the rest. There are currently 312 organizations (May 29th 2021) 322 organizations (May 30th 2021) but I can't find these 3 organizations. They still need to be documented.

I have tried to find them. I originally hoped it was just a miscalculation, but it wasn't. I know it is in the range of 1-260, and likely a bit smaller than 260.

If anyone sees one of my organizations that isn't listed in ///AdditionalInfo/1/ please report it to me in this issue. If nobody finds them, I will eventually find them at some point.

This is mostly a personal issue, and I don't expect much community involvement, but it would still be nice.
