emacs-json's Issues

Discussion regarding making this module work

(continue the discussion from ubolonton/emacs-module-rs#4 )

I want to create a solution for users who are not using emacs 27+. I tried the code from this project and my performance tests show that it works slower than existing json.el library and most of the code is spent in the conversion to elisp structure (~98% of the time). Did you get different results? I think that the code might be optimized if calls like

env.intern(":test")?,
env.intern("equal")?,
env.intern(":size")?,

are cached but it seems to me that it wont be sufficient.
Do you think that there is a way to speedup the emacs function calls?

If caching does not improve the performance, do you think that if we create a rust structure and expose it to elisp code so we can do the conversion there will perform better?
