Aim

The aim of this website is to provide a platform for students to post things.

Requirements of this project

HTML

investigated a variety of different issues and gained a general high level of confidence with the structure of HTML pages (or with generating HTML via a framework)

CSS

investigated a variety of different issues and gained a general high level of confidence with CSS style (or with generating CSS via a framework)

JavaScript

have gained a high level of understanding of how client-side JavaScript works, or a high level of expertise in using client-side frameworks

PNG && SVG

1. PNG: gained experience with some more sophisticated tools such as handling layers and transparency, or airbrushing or creating original artwork
2. SVG: have gained a higher level of experience, e.g. with path editing, grouping, transformations, gradients, patterns, etc., or put a lot of effort into vector artwork

Server

dealt with things like https and certificates, or web sockets, or cloud hosting, or security issues beyond URL validation, or auto-testing, or cookies, or running under reduced privilege

Database

gained a lot of experience with SQL, or you've put a lot of effort into organizing database access (e.g. into a separate server-side module) or you've put a lot of effort into database design or details of handling your data

Dynamic Pages

EJS template put in a lot of programming effort or become very fluent in using your chosen framework

Implement functionality that looks for the username and password and gets the relevant data of that user(i.e: posts, favourites etc.)

Retrieve user data from the database and display it on the page

Implement login screen and system for users

Modify the ejs templates according to the session data.

Use the session to handle login/user sessions.

Make sure the style is consistent on all pages

Create article page

Page that is entered when clicked on an article - this page should have some user details at the top, followed by an image, title and then the article content. You should also have something at the bottom like a thumbs up so you can like the article.

In the posts database: insert column that should hold the post content. This will be displayed on the read_post.html page for the corresponding post.

we need authors for the posts

We need some sort of content validation for the post content/title/description as well as the image path.

Implement pop-up login form

Finish up login and register system.

The login and register post requests should perform some appropriate validations for the provided login/register data.

Use https for forms

Use cookies as session indetifiers

We need to do url validation.

We may need to listen to Ian's lectures for this.

Read what it says on the admin page

We need a system that redirects you to the right url/page after you have registered or logged in.

Implement system that can handle admin login or client login

Think of hashing for password security(or any other good system)

Try to add on or two more posts to test the templating system

Rewrite js files according to good practices in lectures

Improve front-end.
