awesome-mysql's Introduction

Software engineer and database geek

I am enthusiast about writing software and solving problems. I’ve worked with big, busy and highly available systems and services. I in particular enjoy sharing my solutions with the world via blogging (http://code.openark.org/blog/) and via open source.

I author or authored a bunch of open source projects:

I curate a list of MySQL quality open source software: awesome-mysql

Recipient of MySQL Community Member of the Year, Oracle ACE, and Oracle Technologist of the Year award, I'm involved in the MySQL ecosystem community. I frequently present on conferences, see https://code.openark.org/blog/presentations for a collection of some of my recorded presentations + slide decks.

Some blog posts from my role when working as a database engineer at GitHub:

My take on CAP Theorem: not what we thought it was, not what we are looking for.

The peak of my carreer is the infamous SQL Pie Chart query.

awesome-mysql's Issues

Add dbForge Studio for MySQL to GUI section

dbForge Studio for MySQL - a universal GUI tool for MySQL and MariaDB database development, management, and administration. It is a full-fledged IDE that helps create and execute queries, develop and debug stored routines, automate database object management, compare and synchronize databases, analyze table data, and much more. Its rich functionality is delivered under an intuitive interface.

Weekly MySQL News should be removed or replace

The last issue of Weekly MySQL News was on 1/15/16 - it can be found here: https://us6.campaign-archive.com/?u=009fd87839a759e30570956a2&id=61b6bd7d29

I think that either the link should be removed, or it could be replaced with the Vivid Cortex newsletter. In the last issue the creators state that the content will be moving over to Vivid Cortex. It seems that Vivid Cortex does not focus solely on MySQL. I've signed up for the newsletter to check it out. If it seems good, I'll create a PR to add it to the list.

Connectors section needs to be checked.

Downloads are available at the Google Code openark kit project page

openark kit - a set of utilities that solve everyday maintenance tasks, which may be complicated or time consuming to do by hand, written in Python.

it looks like openark kit is a not maintained project. Google Code shutdown many years ago.

Am I wrong?

P.S. thanks for great list
