Visual Studio Code HTML Boilerplate

This extension provides the standard HTML boilerplate code used in all web applications.

Usage

Type 'html5-boilerplate' in an HTML file and select the snippet from the auto suggestion dropdown to get the HTML boilerplate.

Installation

Install Visual Studio Code 0.10.1 or higher
Launch VS Code
Launch the command palette by using Ctrl-Shift-P (Windows, Linux) or Cmd-Shift-P (OSX)
Type in Install Extension and select 'Extensions : Install Extensions'
Type HTML5 Boilerplate
Choose the extension from the drop down
Reload Visual Studio Code

Usage

Create a new document
Set the language mode to html
Type html the auto-complete option for html5-boilerplate shows. Select it to generate the boilerplate

HTML5 boilerplate doesnt work with django extension!

When i first download it, it was working. When i added
django, django template extensions, it didn't work. I uninstalled them reload the VS code, then Boilerplate started to work:/

Use boilerplate on a php file

I have an issue where you cannot run the html5-boilerplate command on a PHP file, it would be nice to still utilize the boilerplate on a PHP file even tho it's a completely separate file type.

If it's me being a doofus let me know and I can fix any local issues on my end.

New Templates

Hi, thanks for the awesome plug-in! Is there a way we can add our own templates?

Can't set custom templates?

I think it would be better if the user could set custom templates!

I've installed it, loaded it, reloaded - everything you've said and I'm getting zip. i have this installed on my other lappy and it works just fine. I don't know if this is an update or what but it isn't working :/

html does nothing after install and reload

I just followed the installation instructions here: https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=sidthesloth.html5-boilerplate

I click the green Reload button, VS Code reloads, I open a new file, type html, and nothing happens. I try html5 and hit Ctrl+Space, says no suggestions. I copy-paste html5-boilerplate and nothing happens. I paste 'html5-boilerplate' and nothing happens.

How is this thing supposed to work?

Edit the Boilerplate the code

How can I edit the html code, if it's possible. I want to make some changes

Html tag is never opened.

this is what is generated (you can't see most of it because apperantly github does not know how to handle text in a safe manner. I see a </html> tag but no <html>. This is extremely annoying because even though it works without the tag, some extension i use wont work unless there is an html-head-body structure. I manage to keep forgetting this and spend +-15min every time a problem like this occurs troubleshooting. I've had this happen with 5 extensions now. Please resolve this simple issue

How could I customise the boilerplate code to better suit my needs?

I installed the html5-boilerplate. But I am getting the following messages in the Runtime Status.

Not getting auto generation

Hi Team,

I'm a new bee to visual studio and trying to do HTML. I installed plugin even after I couldn't get auto-detection? my boilerplate is enabled in visual studio file extension is also ends with .html.

what is an 'auto-suggestion dropdown'?

Which part and what feature of the vs code interface are you referring to?

After installation, completion not being offered

I'm using a freshly installed version of VSC: 1.41.1 on linux.

After installing the extension and restarting VSC, completion for the boilerplate is not being offered.

I open a new file, save it with an .html suffix and start typing 'html5-boilerplate'.
Emmet completions are offered for the string 'html', but nothing is offered for 'html5-boilerplate'.

Adding HTML biolerplate for bootstrap (HTML5: bootstrap)

Your extension is only on MS' official extension gallery, which any forks of VSCode cannot use due to MS' Terms of Service.

We at Coder currently have your extension manually added to our internal extension gallery for use with code-server, but we're currently working on migrating to Open VSX. Many other forks and distributions use Open VSX too - including Gitpod, VSCodium, and Arch Linux's Code-OSS builds.

We'd really appreciate it if you can add your extension to open-vsx! A simple guide on publishing extensions to Open-VSX is available here.

If this is not possible - we could consider adding your extension via the open-vsx CI, but since it would be publicly modifiable, it may present a security risk for extensions.

"!" to create default boilerplate requires extension in VSCode

Hi there, I wanted to point out a small error in the HTML Boilerplate lesson. The lesson states that "VSCode has a built-in shortcut" which allows the developer to enter "!" to easily populate with a default HTML boilerplate. This only worked for me after installing the HTML Boilerplate extension–instructions for this can be found here: https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=sidthesloth.html5-boilerplate

cannot install any extensions

Error when running HTML boiler plate in empty workspace

Am getting this error when I try to use this extension.
Command 'create HTML boilerplate' resulted in an error (Running the contributed command: 'samplext.createbp' failed.)

Sadly it doesn't give me anything else to paste here but I'll describe it as best I can.

I have not used the extension before. Having installed it and tried to run it a few times I restarts VS Code, closed the folder, had therefore a blank workspace (which it says you need to have) and pressed Ctrl-Shift-P, started typing "create html boilerplate" - selected it from the list and immediately got the error as above.

Repeating it gets the same.

I am using VS Code version 1.55.2 and the extension is 1.1.3

When using the extension to supply the html5 boilerplate an extra "<" is always added/left over at the beginning of the file that always needs to be deleted.
