How to start this course

1. Right-click Start course and open the link in a new tab.
2. In the new tab, most of the prompts will automatically fill in for you.
   • For owner, choose your personal account or an organization to host the repository.
   • We recommend creating a public repository, as private repositories will use Actions minutes.
   • Scroll down and click the Create repository button at the bottom of the form.
3. After your new repository is created, wait about 20 seconds, then refresh the page. Follow the step-by-step instructions in the new repository's README.

Videos are out of date

Describe the bug

All the videos (except What is GitHub) are 7 years old. They show an outdated UI and include things like master as the canonical branch name. Not sure if you would class this as a bug or a feature request, but ideally these should be updated to show the correct UI and use the correct branch name of main.

In Step 1, What is a branch section. There is a sentence that reads "You can make edits in your branch without impacting the main version." The word version could be confusing as the following sentence uses branch instead (which may be the better work in place of version?)

Consider increasing accuracy of pull request merging trigger

We currently use pushes to the main branch as the trigger for checking that a pull request was merged:

While it's true that merging a PR into the main branch will trigger in just such an event, it is also true that many other activities (like editing in the UI, other pushes, merging other PRs, etc.) could also result in that trigger. 😅

As such, we may want to consider increasing the accuracy of this event trigger if any folks start reporting such issues. 🤷🏻‍♂️

e.g. suggested:

on:
  # Note that supporting `workflow_dispatch` will require some extra logic checks if
  # if we switch to using `pull_request` instead of `push`!
  workflow_dispatch:
  pull_request:
    branches:
      - main
    types:
      - closed

Plus updating the job-level if from:

We could also get specific about the name of the PR head branch, if that makes sense:

⚠️ To still support workflow_dispatch, we would need to tweak the if condition further as well, e.g. something like:

The Commit Message Guidelines instruct users to use imperative speech when crafting commit messages, which is best practice. In Step 5 of Activity: Your first commit, however, it's suggested that the new user commit with "Adding PROFILE.md".
