Allow called function to update progress meter in addition

It would be nice if the internal worker functions could update the progress meter with their own progress. In order for this to happen it seems that there needs to be an option for the id of the progress meter to be passed to the internal function.

register on METADATA?

I use this package quite a lot and am thinking about using it in a package that might be registered on METADATA eventually. Can we get it registered? Would you like to register this version, @slundberg, or should I fork it and register my fork?
