Grandham, Bibliographic Data Project.

Grandham is a project intended to make available reliable bibliographic information on all Malayalam books published in Kerala and elsewhere. This Open data set contains Complete bibliography data from first Impression to 1995. This project wants to add following features to Malayalagrandham DB and build it as a bibliography web service

Facility for adding/linking copyright expired books to malaylagrandha vivaram
Adding ISBN & ISBN based seller discovery
Building Interface for Publishers through with they can contribute their publication bibliography .
Similar module for Libraries . That will be added to found in library section of each book
A module for building qr code of bibliography with a malayalagrandham link
Crowd sourced way for input and an approval queue interface for submissions.
MARC21 and MARCXML support
A dynamic visualization interface for book information browsing
proper API , and app work flow documentation

Installation

Pre requirements

Ruby 2.4
Mysql/MariaDB

git clone https://github.com/smc/grandham
cd grandham
bin/setup

Usage

cd grandham
rails s

Maintain the page while changing the language

When I click Malayalam from Author page i am taken to books page. Expected behaviour is to remain in Author page itself.

Migrate to Bootstrap V3

The latest Bootstrap has a RC now. Migrating to that now will be good. Few good features that can be used in our UI are there in the new one.

Add check for double quotes in rubocop configuration

500 when creating a new user

Add new book has more minimum fields

There was a mail regarding the same from Anivar, IIRC.

Make search the home page

Probably as simple as the UI of Google. Just a search bar and a button. And make that the home page.

Validations absent

There is no validations in place as of now. For eg I can enter Alphanumeric things into year of publication of a book.

No option to choose English

Once i pick ML, I cant make it back to English

README file not updated

README.rdoc file is the ruby's default one. Please change it to reflect malayalagrandham's.

Make ML the default language

Currently no default language for the search is specified. Make ML the default.

Add rubocop check in CI

Correct redirect URLS "http://www.grandham.org/"

Currently "http://grandham.org/" redirect properly but "http://www.grandham.org/" doesn't .
"http://www.grandham.org/" redirect to nginx default page, please change the configuration.

Find a permanent home to host Grandham

Move editing options to login

Move the edit related options to a logged in user.

I think its better to keep a separate branch for the features that are not part of the milestone and keep the master branch deployable. Move the corresponding features to new branches and get the master ready for the mile stone.
