Android-YouTube-Background-Player

YouTube client for playing music in background. It is also capable of playing music while screen is off.

Application reproduces only audio stream without video, which significantly reduces network load. Stream is chosen adaptively based on network quality.

Player provides mechanisms for searching content, saving it in favorites list, accessing recently played music and loading user playlists by using OAuth2.0. Also, skin can be chosen by using color picker.

These features violate Google YouTube's terms of service and cannot be uploaded to Google Play Store; therefore, I have developed it just for personal purposes as sample project.

Question: Does it stream audio or both?

Nice project. Does it streams a complete video and plays in the background, OR it only stream audio(if that is possible)?

I'm asking this to save bandwidth.

Playback Failed

Hi. I want to report that app not working. After select my google account, nothing shown in tabs, after search anything, when i want to start playing video, only message shown "Playback Failed". It will be great to fix this errors.

Wrong version number in latest release

...and probably in all after the initial release. I've just checked 1.05, and it shows:

package: name='com.smedic.tubtub' versionCode='1' versionName='1.0'

which should rather read something like

package: name='com.smedic.tubtub' versionCode='6' versionName='1.05'

When fixing it, please take care to always update both, versionName and versionCode. Gives some trouble on updates otherwise :)

Suggestion - implement custom media player buttons

The app is great! But besides the media controlers that are accessible on the notifications drawer, it will be nice if you can add some controllers for the media player inside the app (ex. play pause skip shuffle seek bar so you can skip to certain seconds from the song etc.)

The app is awesome, if you could implement user making playlists, saving and playing them that would do wonders for this already good product.

Is it possible to have a timeline of the current track and have the ability to jump to times like a scrollbar?

Good project ;)
But you can add some feature to make it better.

• add a timeline to skip part of musics
• add headset controls (1 press play/pause - 2 press next track - 3 press prev track)
• playlist view does not working i think

I like your app and thanks so much.
But app only play in background, and is controlled via notification.
I want it can show both YouTubePlayerView and notification.
I tried do it, but YouTubePlayerView run not matched time with in background.
