Example text is flawed

The check script uses family-project, but the example configuration is family_project.

Does not correct get global images outside the current project

While the check phase correctly enumerates the global images, like "rhel-8", it fails on the in phase. The fully qualified URI is required to describe images that are outside the current project.

New version is reported before image is ready

The check reports a new version in the image family prior to that image being in a ready state. If this triggers a job to create an instance dependent on that image then it may fail.

ERROR: (gcloud.compute.instances.create) Could not fetch resource:
 - The resource 'projects/gemfire-dev/global/images/pivotal-jbarrett-wip-images-gcp-build-rhel-8-1594274785' is not ready

When pinning a version, the 'get' updates to the latest anyway

On startup, the task showed the same version as the check which I had pinned. But once the resource went to resolve to a disk volume, it changed to latest.

Should return error if image family does not exist

The resource should error on check if the image family does not exist so that you get some indication that you may have misconfigured the resource. Currently it will just say there are no versions, while technically true, it may be because there never will be.

Resource returned "null" as instance name and selflink
