Mac screensaver for counting down to a date

Countdown

Coundown is a Mac OS X screen saver forked from Motivation. You can use it to countdown to any date you want. (If you pick a date in the past, it will count up from that date instead.)

You can configure the date once you picked it in Screen Saver Preferences in System Preferences.

Installation

Download the latest release. Unzip and double-click.

If you see a message saying this screen saver doesn't work with this version of OS X and you have 10.11 or higher, just quit System Preferences and relaunch it. The screen savers is pretty buggy when it comes to screen savers written in Swift.

Building

Xcode 10 is required to build Countdown since it's written in Swift 4.2.

Countdown on daily basis

We would like to be able to set a countdown to a specific time each day, currently I'd need to edit the screensaver each day. Is there a way to make this just time specific?

Need a countdown timer for Linux.

Can this be used on Fedora 31 or Ubuntu 20.10? I need something similar to what you have created for Mac but for Linux. Please help.

I just discovered this screen saver through a youtube video and tried installing it.

Unfortunately, the screen saver options are greyed out and can't be selected.

Add Font Size in settings for far away dates

I am trying to use this to showcase a date that is far away and the numbers go off the screen. In the same settings page where the date was set if there was a font size, that would be fantastic.

Smooth clock offset animation

I don't think the countdown is moving around on the screen at all? So I don't feel comfortable about letting this screensaver loose on my screen for more than short bursts.

For it to work for hours, the clock should be moved up and down enough to at least blur the burn.. Not much is needed, may not even be visible.

Add support for custom font color, background color, background image, text container styles

To make the Countdown screensaver even more customizable, I propose adding support for the following user-configurable options:

• font color
• background color
• background image
  • with opacity setting to mix with background color
• text container styles
  • ability to set styled background around text, such as a rounded rectangle with styles set such as (formatted as CSS):

    border-radius: 10px;
    padding: 20px;
    border: 2px solid #000;
    background-color: rgba(255, 0, 128, 0.75);

    This would be separate from the parent screensaver background color/image options and styles.

Option for seconds

I love this. I would like to make seconds/minutes optional :)

REQUEST for dual screen setups

Hi Soffes,

This is an awesome screensaver. I really like it.
But I'm a user with 2 monitors and it doesn't look as nice with two clocks counting down.

Is there a way to maybe be able to disable the screensaver on other screens?
