libnotify-terminal-cpp's Issues

Tests & Coverage

In order to attest of the quality of the code (even while being so small a project), I'd like to have code tested and coverage checked. However, C++ doesn't have native code checking tools, and testing would require a notification daemon.

In short, TODO:

  • Write tests
    • Test the Notification class and check that data is successfully passed to the NotifyNotification
    • Test the upcoming IO interface that writes to stdio (light abstraction on the direct use of streams)
  • Get a good coverage workflow going; for now the tests gets compiled with coverage flags but aren't successfully parsed.

Inline Reply where supported

GNOME supports inline replies in notifications. This means having to avoid resorting to third-party solutions (like shell-calling zenity which could potentially be an attack vector to allow code execution).

The problem being, not all notification daemons support inline replies, and GNOME doesn't document well how to use them. This means having a fallback position.

In short:

  • Find documentation on how to set notification as reply-able - most GJS projects that use it are old and deprecated (and there's something with GJS code that I can't really understand)

  • Find a way to use documentation from the C++ library

  • Think of a good fallback solution.
