solidus.io's Issues

Image jump

When switching between Decision Makers and Developers, the image beside the copy jumps up and down. We'd like it to remain in place and just have the copy change.

iOS contact form font issue

Only affects iOS. The "message" floating label on the contact form has a weird visual artifact. See attached.

image uploaded from ios

Firefox 50/50 module issue.

This only affects firefox, but the homepage 50/50 modules overflow onto the next row (screenshot attached).

This appears to be only when the image is using the 2X version.

Savings calculator redesign

The fact that Solidus is free is not, by itself, a selling point.

The selling point and the advantage we have over other platforms is that, instead of spending 2% of your annual revenue just to keep your website online, you can make it a part of your development budget and spend it on actively improving the website, or not use it on development and spend it on your product instead.

This should be reflected in the savings calculator in our home page. Rather than simply stating that Solidus is "Free forever", we should make an educated guess at how many full-time developers one could afford with the money Solidus allows you to save.

Should I use Solidus? page

I think we do a pretty good job of answering this question when new people join Slack, but it would be nice to have a document to point to.

Update homepage Solidus stats

Every month we need to update the stats on the homepage.

Things to update:

  • Github stars
  • Github contributors
  • Slack members
  • OpenCollective funds donated

Spacing Issue on features list

In the features list on the homepage, there is more spacing above each line of copy than below (see screenshot).

Note: This also happens in "Don't reinvent the wheel" section.

Github widget in header appears with inconsistent styles

(This issue has changed slightly since posting - see comment below)

On blog posts, the github widget in the header doesn't appear, instead we just get text that says "Star" - see below, blog index page vs. blog show page. As far as I can tell this only happens on the blog show page.

Supported versions page?

I found it hard to find what versions are supported and when the EOL is, found it under /security.

Thinking about how to solve this best, but wanted to open a ticket around it for any input.

Use GitHub commit image if GitHub API is down

On the developers page, we should default to the GitHub commit image if for whatever reason we can't get a good response from the GitHub API. The image is currently located at source/assets/images/github.png.

This is a minor issue, but it would be good to have a fallback. Otherwise, an empty element will render, which doesn't look amazing.

Some images need higher resolution versions

On a hi-dpi screen (like a 5K iMac), the cards.png on the "Features" page is very clearly a 900 pixel wide image.

The GitHub springboard image on the "Developers" page is also very pixelly.

If it's possible to export a higher res version of these, that would be excellent.

Screenshot belows. View them at full size to see what I mean.

Disable content fade on mobile

Some of the sections on mobile don't play nice with the content fade-in. This is a really nice touch on desktop, but I think we can safely disable it on mobile and opt for a slightly less flashy experience.

Remove Github issues image on mobile

On mobile the github image on /developers ends up being kind of useless because it's too difficult to see anything. Let's keep it on desktop and tablet but hide on mobile.

Link to Stack Overflow in Community page CTA

Since we want to encourage the community to ask questions on Stack Overflow rather than Slack, we should probably link to Stack Overflow in this CTA:

Screenshot 2019-10-23 15 36 48

We could also include both, but I'd rather default to Stack Overflow and then keep the Slack link in the footer and modal.

Lost my name rebranded

For whoever has time, we reference lost my name at least once in the footer of the site. We should change it to wonderbly as well as any links pointing to it.

Mobile Landscape nav

The mobile navigation when in landscape view, cuts off the bottom navigation elements.

We're going to have to shrink the font size and padding in order to fit them all.

Allow HTML markup in GitHub commit message

There is currently no formatting done on GitHub commit messages on the developers page; whatever we get from the GitHub API is shoved in. This is a problem when commit messages contain HTML tags, as the browser interprets them as such.

<title> tags need to be SEO'd

Right now, we are probably losing audience just because our titles are nonexistant. If you navigate around the site you'll see titles like "Home", "Developers" and so on that provide no context for the site.
