There is already an icon for these filetypes. It's a generic package icon.
The reason I don't make special icons for each (like say, adding text with the
filetype's name on the icon) is because it goes against the tango/gnome
interface's
standards.
Besides, if I were to add any text to the icons I wouldn't be able to implement
it
clearly at smaller sizes. It would make things inconsistent.

i know what you mean, but for example, you could do an .emerald icon, for
.emerald
files, and maybe some new for .deb, .zip, .rar, .7zip, .rpm files and not the
generic
package icon (as it comes by default) it looks old, i mean you do not have to
add
text with the file type's name on the icon, it is just to make it more
attractive,
and maybe if you want, then it is your choice to change a little every icon
(.deb,
.zip, .rar, .7zip, .rpm) to see what it is about...

The thing about using completely different icons for all those files is that
people
may get confused. Perhaps using two icons - a generic one for installable files
and
the current one for compressed packages would be better idea. Other than that,
redesigning the "outdated" generic package icon could also work.
