hp15bs661tx-hackintosh's Introduction

Hp 15bs661tx Opencore EFI [Mojave - Big Sur]

Hp Latpop Snapshot

This repository will no longer be maintained by me as my laptop is no longer usable for hackintoshing. Kindly, do not install any BIOS updates from Windows as it messes up your ECs and it may even disable the roll-back functionality of the BIOS. I made the mistake of doing so and now MacOS will refuse to boot up. Feel free to continue its updates by forking this repository

Thanks

Where is Opencore 0.7.0?

I was busy with other projects so I couldn't find time to update it. So right now you are stuck with the package I have provided in the releases section, but worry not, I have already started working on it. And instead of simply updating it, I have decided to redo the entire configuration. That would make it less buggy, more efficient and clean.

So for now I guess you have to wait. Although if you are able to, Pull Requests are always welcomed :)

NOTE: I will not be doing a Monterrey update is its really early right now, so its better to stick with Big Sur, although if you wanted to test it out, you can always do so and share the experience...

Status: WIP

This repo contains information for getting macOS 11 Big Sur working on a HP 15bs-661tx Notwbook Laptop

This EFI Config now supports Big Sur as well. So if you want to upgrade you can promptly do so but I would suggest to do a fresh installation instead. Also, in case you haven't made any modifications to the laptop or have done any upgrades, I suggest buying a SATA m.2 SSD of either ~120G or ~240G as it will really help you. Trust me. It will enhance the experience if you are planning on upgrading to Big Sur.

I personally think that this i3 CPU isn't really cut out for Big Sur as I am a power user and I'd probably upgrade this laptop's motherboard with either an 8th gen i5 or and 8th ge n i7. That would really make this thing mark unto today's standards at least. Also I would recommend you to go buy the supported intel WLAN + BT card for this which can be made to work with Mac OS using intelwm. If I ever get the chance and money to make these updates I would really do so and you should also consider some of them.

As of now I think the EFI is almost complete except for a few things like DRM and stuff. (I don't have a Netflix account to use currently. If u do then please let me know) Also I think Mac OS drains the battery faster than windows but I haven't officially tested it yet. Enhancements and improvements are always welcome

Status

Working

  • Keyboard (including all media keys except for brightness)
  • Battery indicator
  • Audio
  • Ethernet
  • iCloud services - iMessage, FaceTime, AppStore
  • GPU acceleration
  • Camera
  • Microphone
  • Mac-like booting interface for multiboot
  • Sleep/wake
  • Trackpad and gestures
  • HDMI video up to 4k (Audio does not work)
  • Brightness keys without pressing fn key

Working, sort of

  • Native CPU power management. It seems that Mac OS Drains more battery than windows. Though not officially tested yet.

Not Working at the moment

  • Wifi
  • Bluetooth
  • Display auto brightness
  • Handoff, continuity
  • AirPlay

Not Tested

  • Sidecar
  • FileVault
  • DRM content playback (Netflix, Apple TV+)

For Networking I am mainly reliant on Ethernet and the USB WIFI dongle that I have of D-Link. Fortunately it supports Catalina (Haven't tested on Big Sur yet) but it only supports the ban standard and not ac so that's a downside. There is no way to enable bluetooth right now as I don't have a bluetooth dongle right now :(

hp15bs661tx-hackintosh's Issues

Big Sur installation restarts at 12 minutes left mark

Well this is technically a non-issue you can simply ignore it and when the laptop reboots, boot into the install macintosh entry not the one that says "(External)".
After doing this u might see that the installation goes on for 30 minutes or so until it suddenly reboots again. Don't panic, just keep moving along that and boot into Install Macintosh again. You might have to do this for 2 or 3 times more until you see the final setup screen.
