Double check and provide screenshot of the browser window while on the about:addons Themes page,

• You should have system theme - auto, meaning Dark and Light through the browser is not enabled. Dark is usually enabled by default.
• And for Windows in the Personalize Settings > Color Mode.

Thats really strange.

The code itself is a simple ''if prefers-color-scheme toggle'' as well, so I dont see why you would be having this issue. Just tried on a fresh install as well, and it was fine. There's definitely something missing.

If youve ever used custom theming on Windows before I know Firefox detects this as high contrast theming, so then in about:config you could try toggling widget.content.gtk-preferences they have settings for gtk contrast, or widget.non-native-theme.enabled.

Personally I use developer edition on windows, checking right now if there is a difference between default-release for Windows. But I doubt it, as the code is universal.

Seeing the same result on default-release. You may have something system related interfering, perhaps contrast, or something modifying the shell like MicaBlur turn on for Firefox.
