watchy-cases's Issues

Missing README ?

Could someone describe the differences between the Quattro and Armadillonium cases in the README? It would also be nice if there was a bit more description about the competition and a list of the cases submitted for that as well to provide a bit of orientation in the archive.

Peechy

Hello,

Name : Peechy
Licence : Do whathever you want
List of files : Top, Bottom and Button

Here is Peechy, a cross design between Pebble and Watchy.

STL Files : ( Can't upload STL directly ) Peechy-STL.zip

I'm not an expert in 3D or technical design, the files are not as clean as the reference design, I tried to submit a design that would fullfil my wishes about the watch.

What I love about Watchy, is the blunt design, I really likes the fact that you can see the components directly on your wrist, making the form being the function.
I appreciate a bit of comfort too, so I tried to mix the Watchy reference case, with the entire screen board visible and buttons a bit more integrated than the reference design.

Here is some pictures !

Watchy watch band doesn't fit the other cases

I've now 3D printed Dos, Boxy, and Quattro watch cases and the silicone watch band that comes with the Watchy doesn't fit in any of them. The watch band needs about 24mm but the watch cases only have about 22.3mm of space. Why is there a 1.5mm difference in width between the injection molded case and the other cases?

Dos 22.7mm
Boxy 22.3mm
Quattro 22.6mm
Injection molded Watchy case 24.1mm

Watchy Armadillonium case + Leatherman Tread (LT)

This is not an issue per se, but I wanted to record this somewhere, in case others are after this.

I have found a way to use a Leatherman Tread (LT) as the wristband for an Armadillonium case. tl;dr: not an exactly perfect fit, but it works.

I found some adapters on AliExpress. There are many options (including many knock-off Treads), but I lucked out on my first try with the following:

It mostly works, however:

  • The links fit very very tightly in the case. The little holes for the springs could not be any further in, or any closer to the back of the case. Actually, it is so tight that it's impossible for the link to be fully flat with the back of the case, but this is not an issue when wearing the watch. signal-2022-06-15-142538_002
  • The 2.45cm width does NOT actually match the Leatherman Tread LT links. They are ~18mm wide, but this was not an option for this particular set of links. Fortunately, the attachments still fit, but there's a bit of wobble (which can probably be addressed with small washers), and the screws cannot go all the way into the link. This makes the attachment of the link a bit stiff. However, once again, it's not an issue when wearing the watch. signal-2022-06-15-142538_001

Tech Case

Name : Tech Case
License : Open/MIT
List of files : Top.stl, Bottom.stl, Button.stl (4)

Here is my attempt at a case for Watchy. I wanted it to look more techincal/geometric and not bulky. The use of the existing strap holes hopefully makes it more minimal and sleeker as well, while still offering some protection.

It may need small updates for it to actually work, due to clearances/etc. (I don't yet have the watchy or a 3D printer.)

Attached are also some quick renders. If anyone wants to submit some better renders, that would be great!

Thanks!

Model size is too small

I am unsure what unit system the original model was built with, but when I go to import the STL into Zotrax Z-Suite it says "it looks like it was made in inches, convert to millimeters?". If you click yes, the model that shows up is less than 1mm wide. If you click no, the model does not seem to appear. I opened it in Rhino and it asks me what unit system to import it with, centimeters, inches and millimeters are all wrong I think as the model still shows up too small.

What unit system was this model created with?

Slim

Introducing Slim: the minimal case for Watchy.
https://github.com/BraininaBowl/Slim---A-case-for-Watchy

A watch case carefully designed to add as little bulk as possible. You'll need the front, the back and four buttons. Installation: But the back down on its back. Slip the four buttons in, lower your Watchy into it and put the face plate on top of it all. Just thread your strap through the hoops and you're ready to go.

Add license to Yatari

Yatari appears to be missing a license as mentioned in the main repository readme

Slim case corners not complete

When slicing the bottom Slim watch face, two corners are hollow. Could we get the original files to modify or have it repaired?
