Synchronise threads for garbage collection

Each thread allocates into its own segment, requesting a new segment when it runs out of space.
When not enough memory is available to assign a new segment, the GC should kick in.

Before the GC can start, all other threads have to enter a clean state and be prevented from
interfering with the collector.

One easy way of doing this is by resetting their allocations. However, a thread could do work without allocating anything. In this case, the interpreter has to check function calls to stop the thread as soon as possible.
