perlin-noise's Issues

Clarify armnoise8 vs. srnoise8

This is a stupid chore issue, but I wanted to open it for you in case the final comment on #6 got missed after close. The real issue is that the header file for srnoise8 declares itself as armnoise8.h, but aside from the prototypes the text is otherwise identical AFAICT.

The bonus issue is that srnoise8 does include an additional alpha parameter, so it might be worth mentioning that as well as whether or not there'd be any reason to pick one over the other in an environment where speed and tuning are important.

Thanks again for the code. Excited for the possibilities!

Question about license notice

Hello @stegu, thanks very much for making this available!

I had a question about the license notice from several of the files. I see that it says the following in some files (like sdnoise1234.h):

 * This library is public domain software, released by the author
 * into the public domain in February 2011. You may do anything
 * you like with it. You may even remove all attributions,
 * but of course I'd appreciate it if you kept my name somewhere.
 *
 * This library is distributed in the hope that it will be useful,
 * but WITHOUT ANY WARRANTY; without even the implied warranty of
 * MERCHANTABILITY or FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. See the GNU
 * General Public License for more details.

The last line, referring to the GPL -- was that intended to say that the GPL still applies to these files? I assume not, given the public domain language above, but just wanted to make sure about what you intended.

Thanks again!

FASTFLOOR macro in srdnoise23.c has wrong ')' in EOL

In srdnoise23.c Line: 49, there is a macro :

#define FASTFLOOR(x) ( ((int)(x)<=(x))) ? ((int)x) : (((int)x)-1) )

but it should be #define FASTFLOOR(x) ( ((int)(x)<=(x))) ? ((int)x) : (((int)x)-1), I guess?

Maybe it is just that this repository not sync with website yet.

Dealing with flicker artifacts?

Hey, thanks a lot for sharing these libraries! I am attempting to use srnoise8.c to generate a nifty flame effect for a keyboard using an RGB led matrix (simulation here).

I've cobbled it together from some various ideas in other projects I've found, and for the most part it looks pretty great, however I'm noticing are some flickering artifacts caused by (I'm assuming) the potential overflow mentioned here.

Is that a reasonable assumption, or is it likely something else? If it is likely the overflow, is there a decent way to mitigate this somewhat?

Question

Just a question about the different files.
Do they represent a different noise type or a different way to create the same noise?
