Hidden Chat Application
This application allows users to engage in chat rooms with options for both public and private conversations. It utilizes WebSockets for real-time communication and Express for the server setup.
- Node.js installed on your system.
- Basic knowledge of terminal or command prompt usage.
- Clone the repository
git clone
- Navigate to the project directory
cd hidden-chat-app
- Install dependencies
npm install
- Start the server
node server.js
This command launches the server on localhost
with the default port 3000
.
- Access the application
Open a web browser and visit http://localhost:3000
. You should see the Hidden Chat application's landing page.
- Start Chatting: Input your desired room ID and username, then click "Start Chat" to join a chat room.
- Sending Messages: Type your message in the input field and click "Send" or press Enter to send your message.
- Stop Chatting: Click "Stop Chat" to leave the chat room.
- Delete a Message: Click the "Delete" button next to your message to delete it.
- View Active Chat Rooms: Press "Refresh Rooms List & User" to view the list of active chat rooms.
