ShowKeyPlus 1.14.1 - Only English?

I found on internet ShowKeyPlus 1.14.1.
But it's only English.
No italian version available.

Phone home feature ?

I noticed that the showkeyplus on github does not have any source code listed but that is not the main issue here. I also noticed that it has a phone home feature where it is sending encrypted data back over https traffic, I am a little concerned by windows key got sent back to a collection server, Could you please clarify what data is being sent back ?

Unable to retrieve MAK

Hi, apparently I am not able to retrieve the MAK Key, Do you know why ?

does not work on Microsoft Office

i'v tried many licences keys for microsoft office 2019 pro , however when checking the keys with showkeyplus it yield no result.

any reason why ?
can it be fixed?
is there a different source / software or manual commands that i can use to query microsoft servers to know what kind of license is that ?

Non silent when no Windows installation found

I'm trying to implement ShowKeyPlus in an Windows installation via SCCM and running it under Windows PE.
It is outputting to the txt file just find, but it is showing the GUI with the message:
"Auto-discovery did not find any Windows installations"
"OEM information found..."

Can you make it so it doesn't show the GUI in this case?

The key is different in "Update and Security"?

ShowKeyPlus displayed the last 5 digit as "6MT6Y" which is the same in all PCs after free OS upgrade, but I see "8HR36" in Update and Security > Activation.

So... is it possible for ShowKeyPlus to find the real key?

Retrieve key from backup

When retrieving a key from a backup, I get a mixed display:

"Installed key" seems to be the key from the backup that I was looking for
"OEM key" and "OEM edition" still show the OEM key from my current installation (not the backup)

PS: Is there an easy way to copy the retrieved keys to clipboard?

Source code is not available

Hello.
Older releases of this software were licensed under GNU GPL v2. According to GPL you should distribute source code alongside the binaries or respond to requests for source code.
Please, provide source code for those versions.

Minor german localization issues

Hi there, first of all, thanks for this great tool :)

I found two minor flaws in the german translation, which you might want to fix:

1.) On the left hand side (the menu), the second option in german reads "Überprüfen edition". A better translation would be "Edition überprüfen".
2.) When being on the startpage, on the right hand side the product information is shown. If no OEM-key was found in the firmware, the last entry reads currently in german: "OEM-Schlüssel in Firmwar nicht vorhandene". This could be fixed to "OEM-Schlüssel in Firmware nicht vorhanden"

Version 1.0.5835 runs fine on Windows XP if .NET Framework 4 is installed.
However, the latest Version 1.0.6594 stops immediately after starting without producing any visible output or error message

Batch key test

Hello

I have a bunch (big bunch) of oem key to check version.
It seems that you are the only one guy with a soft on the internet i am able to find with the capability to tell if a key is a windows 7/8/10/11 key.

But, as you mentioned, the support of the batch process / cli process is not supported anymore, and the 7060 release is not working on this purpose.

Could you either : tell how you managed to get the info of what int he key is linked to the verison of windows ?
or push a little bunch of code / exe, with a key in parameter and returning the version of the os included in that key ?

Launching ShowKeyPlus gave me Product Key: QKMNQ-9T2.....
Unfortunately, I got an error prompt that the number 2 is not acceptable in the product code.
Please note, I purchased the machine at the US Army West Point Post Exchange, at a Black Friday Door Buster sale. It was taken from a stack of all the same model. So I don't believe it was a fraudulent machine.
Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated.

Hi when I use the program I see on firewall attempt to outbound comunication on port 443. May i ask for what porpose? Also i dont see source code to download just packed readme files as source code.

OEM key not present in firmware

This is issue? can i'm lookup my windows OEM key? or backup windows original license key using this tools?

WinPE Task Sequence Hangs

Thank you for this tool to pull OEM information during WinPE! We are trying to use this during an OSD task sequence with SCCM. We have a step that runs ShowKeyPlus.exe OEMInfo.txt and then parses the output file to import the needed information. However, after this step runs, we've noticed that ShowKeyPlus.exe stays running the background. The task sequence will not continue until the process is stopped. Even if we manually stop the process, the task sequence will continue, but when it arrives at the first reboot, the system simply does not restart. Everything closes and you get a cursor with a blue background. Something left over from ShowKeyPlus seems to be preventing the reboot. Any idea what that could be?

WindowsPE CLI not working

Thanks for the tool!

When using the tool (recent version) in CLI mode in Windows PE (ADK 1803) it does create the file, however the values are not added (please see attached file
key.txt
).

It does show all information when running in GUI mode, however unlike in Windows 10 it needs several seconds to show the values (I do see a spinning circle first which I do not get in Windows 10). Therefore I suspect a timing issue that in CLI mode the file is written too soon.

I do have tried also the older version and either it does not run on PE at all or it has the same behaviour.

Windows 10 version 1903 - Original Windows 8 key not retrieved

Hello.

On the latest edition of Windows 10 (version 1903), for computers installed directly with Windows 8 keys in a clean install process, and which have been delivered a digital activation, the tool doesn't display the original Windows 8 key and edition (only the Windows 10 generic key is displayed).

Is it a known issue? Are you working on it? or is there a limitation in this version of Windows 10 which prevents from obtaining this information?

Windows PE support

ShowKeyPlus1.0.6594 not executing under windows PE 64 bit environment created with Windows ADK for Windows 10, version 1709. Program can be seen momentarily in taskmgr then disappears.

Not issue, a question: can i find product key on second drive where are all files for not used windows?

On C: i have and use windows 10 home. Drive E: was before my main disk, i still use it, there are all files and folders for windows 8.1 pro. I want to find key for this windows. ShowKeyPlus didn't find it in E:\Windows\System32\config\software. If there another way to find it?

Product key from Medion laptop not accepted

I am trying to reinstall a Medion laptop from 2007 that came with Windows XP. I don't have the installation disc that came with it (if any), but it does have an authentic product key sticker on it, and a sticker saying "Designed for Microsoft Windows XP". I found a Windows XP ISO, but it must be the wrong edition because it does not accept the product key.

I'm trying to use ShowKeyPlus to identify which edition the key belongs to, but ShowKeyPlus says that the key is invalid. I am quite confident that it is not and that I made no mistakes entering it. It's quite legible and has all the expected holograms. I tried several times.

How can I help get ShowKeyPlus to identify this key?

Can you add batch capability to create text file?

Can you possibly add a command line switch such as:
/w filename
Invoking this way would simply write the file and close.

With this I could script the program and run on several machines without operator intervention. Thank you for writing a nice program.

Add: 'Certificate installation' extra steps

Add additional instructions for those whom can't get the certificate installed and/or get the certification error and thus fail the installation. You need to manually select a certificate folder.

Here are the following steps:

• Right-click "ShowKeyPlusUWP_1.1.2.0_AnyCPY.appxbundle" and click on properties.
• Click on the tab named 'Digital Signatures'.
• Double-click the (single) signature you see in that tab.
• Click on 'View Signature'.
• Click on the button with the name "Install signature", "Install Certificate" or something of that nature (my OS is in Dutch, i apologize for this).
• Select 'local machine' and click next.
• Select 'place all certificates in the following store'.
• Click browse and select 'Trusted Root certification authorities'.
• Click next and click on finish.

Now you should be able to install/use the ShowKeyPlus UWP application. I hope this may prove useful for those whom need it. :)

Windows 11 CLI Check

I'll start by saying thank you for the tool. It is fantastic.

I've been using the CLI version (1.0.7060) for a long time now in WinPE with v1.0.6893 as a 'backup' for when the CLI analysis fails (i.e. when Windows is partially installed).

The new version doesn't have WinPE support yet, however, we are starting to analyse systems with Windows 11 injections and it still shows 'Windows 10' as the injected version on these older builds.

Any chance you can release 1.0.7060 but with Windows 11 awareness? i.e. so the CLI functionality still works

I would like to check a lot of windows product key from a file, and of course generate an output file with the result.
Is there any way to do that ? Maybe an evolution ?

Same key all over

Showkey v1.0.6371 shows the same key on all my Windows 10 Pro computers!
Of course this is not the case, and I know that each computer has been installed with a unique key.
The only possible explanation I can think of, is the fact that I chose to store the ShowKey EXE file on a NAS server, and I run the same exe files from all my computers.
Could that be the reason?

Odd Microsoft usage

Hello!

While this isn't an issue per-say, I wanted to let you know Microsoft engineers that are working on licensing issues seem to be opting to install your software right away (no asking for consent, just going for it).

Wanted to let you know since you work hard on this tool, and Microsoft is using it to troubleshoot paying business customers (and probably not cutting you in)

Doen't seem to detect Original Key and Edition on all PCs

On a Dell desktop that had Windows 7 on it and now runs Windows 10 1511, ShowKeyPlus says OEM Key: Windows 7 OEM marker present in firmware and correctly shows me the Original Key and Original Edition.

However on an Acer laptop that also had Windows 7 on it and now runs Windows 10 1607, ShowKeyPlus says OEM Key: Windows 7 OEM marker present in firmware but does not show me either the Original Key or the Original Edition.

Why is this? Is it because the desktop was upgraded from Windows 7 to 10 (using the 1511 ISO), but the laptop was formatted and had Windows 10 clean installed on it (also using the 1511 ISO but then updated to 1607 via Windows Update)?

Checking Key Version using CLI

I understand that you are no longer developing the CLI version of ShowKeyPlus, I am curious if the command line has an option to check a product key? Is this something you plan to expand on in the future?

To clarify, check a product key not installed on the machine ShowKeyPlus is running on.

I'm going through a saved document from a long time ago where I had kept a number of Windows licenses and a few of the ones I know are Vista and a few I'm uncertain of are coming back as invalid.

ShowKeyPlus 1.0.5835 seems to work fine (both installed key retrieval and check key functions).

Couple of additional points:

1. It's a great utility, but how come it has grown to more than double the size between 5835 and 6084?
2. The check key tab states: "Enter a product key to check it's edition". Please change that to "its" instead.
