Setup

Installation for the last theme

There are three way to install the last themes/lines

The method with chezmoi only work with a theme for awesomewm and only for supported distrib Gentoo, Archlinux or Debian.
You can try on other distributions like Ubuntu... at your own risk and peril :)

Vim

For Vim, i use the native package loading, to install all plugins, you need to install git and launch:

./install --vim
stow vim

Shell

You can install ohmyzsh and spaceship-prompt with:

./install --zsh
stow zsh

Wallpapers

To recover all the wallpapers (the script will place them into ~/images), you need to install curl and execute a:

./install --images

Or search directly here. You have to launch this each time a new theme come.

Fonts

To install all the fonts (in ~/.local/share/fonts), you can use my script too.

./install --fonts

it says:
waiting for X server to shut down (II) Server terminated successfully (0). Closing log file.

Awesome won't recognize user themes

Hi, I've installed the tower theme but the theme will not load. I've been searching for fix and apparently awesome keeps loading the default configuration from /etc/xdg/awesome and refuses to load the ~/.config/awesome one.

configuration error?

Hi feel free to close the issue, its regarding How to setup the dotfile , first of thank you for this , it looks aweosme i been trying to setup followng the instruction. i feel stuck, tow: ERROR: The stow directory szorfein/dotfiles does not contain package image, i have cloned your repository to home directory.

Miami Theme on awesomewm has weird fonts

I've just installed the miami theme onto a fresh void linux install. The titlebar and the topbar have what looks like simple Times New Roman font, when I don't think it should. I've been going over the config files, and other references in other closed issues for about an hour now, and can't figure this out. Anyone have a fix? Am I just missing a font? Picture attached.

Mistake with the path for the awesome copy and there is no picom to stow

Hello, I love the theme but i just want to let you know that on the arch install you have it saying that you need to "$ cp dotfiles/awesomewm/config/awesome/config/env.lua.sample ~/.config/awesome/config/env.lua", this doesn't work though. I guess this was the path before there was a change because now the path is "$ cp dotfiles/awesomewm/.config/awesome/config/env.lua.sample ~/.config/awesome/config/env.lua". There is also no way to stow picom because that no longer exists. Other than that though this is an amazing theme and I am really loving it. You have done some great work and the documentation that you provide is truly incredible.

Beginner Question

Hi,

I have a very basic rice on my (KDE Plasma) Manjaro right now and have been contemplating to move to i3 for a while now. The thing is, I really like your dotfiles, but I don't really know how I am supposed to start, in that, what *nix am I supposed to have and how to go about installing this on a fresh machine. Could you please help me out by pointing out the steps that I should take to go about installing it in a beginner friendly fashion ?

Some icons on footer and left bar not working properly

Hey first and foremost thanks for sharing this awesome theme, I recently (2 days ago) installed Arch and Awesome WM and was looking for a theme and then I ended up finding this repo.

I got morpho installed with success but some icons, buttons, bars seems to not be working properly for me. I was able to fix some of the stuff such as the network and processor in the footer but most of them still needs to be fixed.

Here is a print to help visualize the issues: https://imgur.com/X6jwkHx

Since I don't know anything about lua, it's hard to know where I need to look at in order to fix the issues.

So, so far the stuffs that are not working for me is:
-the left bar sound slider
-some footer icons not displaying (also I would like to increase a bit the font size) because the icons are too small
-github, reddit, twitter buttons on start screen not working (maybe I need to set firefox as my default browser for WM I think I haven't done that yet)
-still in start screen, as I would expect the images, torrents, movies aren't working. Are you using another graphical user interface together with Awesome WM to display this?
-the lock screen, after I unlock it with password the lock window overlay won't go away, so I have to restart the WM in order to get rid of it.

Sorry for the text wall and thanks again for this amazing theme, you made me want to learn lua which is something I plan on doing after I finish my js project.

Stupid quest

Hi, I'm sorry for the stupid quest feel free to close the issue.
Is there a way to syslink the whole folder with stow, so when I add a file in the "original" directory it gets created also in the .dotfiles repo?

awesome wm theme

hi i love your ricing. i like to try your new anonymous theme. i tried copy pasting files to my awesome folder but it throws lots of errors. i then install stow and when try to follow instruction provided on github page it says conflicts as target is not directory.

hoping for some help here. again great stuff.

Thanks,
Najam

Can't install theme

Hello. I try install theme-city. My actions:

  • install i3-gaps, kitty, termite, cava, polybar, zathura, vim, dina-font, xorg-xinit, xorg-server, rofi, feh, stow
  • clone your repository to ~/Downloads
  • cd dotfiles
  • stow config -t ~
  • stow images -t ~
  • stow theme-city -t ~
  • logout or reboot
  • try to login to i3

And after this I see only theme-city background :c
Very want to try your theme and i3. Can you help me with this one, please?

Rofi issue

Sorry if i'm opening another issue but installation went very well, but when i do SuperKey+R to open the rofi menu it gives me this error:

/home/(my username)/.config/rofi/config.rasi:2:34: Option: font needs to be set with a string not a Reference.

/home/(my username)/.config/rofi/config.rasi:8:23: The option:

configuration
{
           theme:"./theme.rasi":
}
is deprecated. please replace with: @theme "./theme.rasi" after the configuration block.

Is there any way you could help me? It would be very appreciated :D
