It can be described as classifying a leaf that is "known" or "unknown", after comparing it with stored known leaves. It is also desirable to have a classification solution that has the ability of learning to recognize unknown leaves. Botanists find this design technique as it helps them with plant species recognition using leaves. For all forms of life, plants form the basic food staples, and this is just one reason why plants are important. The main aim of the plant species recognition using leaf image is to narrow down the possible plant species and improve the recognition process, using feature extraction methods that can help to characterize the textures, shapes, edges and geometrical properties of leaves. This report will look at the plant species recognition by applying image processing techniques that do pre-processing and enhancement, segmentation, feature extraction, leaf classification and comparison of results. among these features to optimize results. We classified the obtained vectors. Then we evaluate the classification using cross validation. The obtained results are very interesting and show the importance of each feature.
