Fill polyline problem

I'm trying to follow the workflow in the YouTube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OmPP5mdYOQI to mesh a closed polyline.
If I create a mesh plane, duplicate one of the vertices, extrude that to create a series of line segments and then close it with 'f', then delete the original mesh then I get a closed polyline as in the video. However when I hit "Fill polyline" then instead of meshing the polyline I've just drawn it meshes where the plane that I've just deleted was:

If I then delete the mesh object that was created and hit 'Fill Polyline' again then I get this error:

Feedback: Simulate Selected

Hi, Been working with your plugin for a bit trying to figure things out.

An obvious improvement that would make all the difference when actually applying clothing to anything, or draping tents would be to allow for a mesh selection to define what areas are to be currently simulated.
Basically, like many other things in blender, only have the selection of (faces?) simulate the cloth.
This would reduce the cost and time that you get when you simulate a full 70k vert mesh by allowing only a portion of it to be calculated.

Either way, awesome work on the rewrite stuff too. Figure since this isn't really an issue I'd share it here ;)
