Title speaks for itself.
Firefox 90.0.2
Addon version: 1.16.0
Used https://www.netflix.com/title/80018499 for testing.
Anything more I can do for help?
Windows version: Windows 10 Pro 1909
Firefox version: Version 77.0.1 (64-bit)
Addon version: 1.13 (latest from Firefox Store)
Problem:
When the addon is disabled, it blocks Widevine from running on Netflix only, even after caches and cookies have been erased and removed. Uninstalling the addon would result in the same way. Other websites that uses Widevine DRM works as usual.
Ways to reproduce:
1- Install the addon.
2- Open Netflix and try to watch any shows or movies. It will allow 1080p streams.
3- Disable the addon. You will notice that even when Widevine is installed for Firefox (can be verified at about:addons#plugins), you will get this picture:
Temporary solution:
Either clear the browser cache or reinstall Firefox.
Note:
From the source code, is there a simple way to install this into firefox, can someone guide please.
So I assume the shortcut should be Ctrl+Alt+Shift+S
, at least thats what the internet says. Unfortunately this doesn't work for me there is no window showing up...
This add-on has been fantastic, Thanks for all your work on it.
But yesterday I suddenly started having an odd issue with it, I was watching a show and had the audio set to a non native language in 2.0 sound and it worked fine like normally, then that evening when I went back to finish the show I found that only 5.1 audio sources would work but 2.0 sound sources have no audio
I tested a few different shows and all had the same result, 5.1 sound works normally, but if I change to a 2.0 sound source there is no sound at all.
Turning off the add-on in Firefox makes the sound work normally in the default Netflix settings ( No 5.1 surround options )
Netflix says I'm using an unsupported browser when I use the addon. If I remove the addon Netflix works again.
Do you think a similar approach can be used to support Prime Video?
Thanks.
Hi,
Is is possible to adjust the Video bit-rate?
For example, on vikings on Firefox I am only able to watch 1080p with 1117 bit-rate.
But when I use the windows 10 app I get to stream 1080p with 3363 bit-rate and a much sharper image.
Thanks for all your work, time and effort put into this. It its truly very much appreciated .
Hello, first I love this plugin, it is very, very great.
I have a small issue with it. When I watch a series, a get frame drops in the last minutes of the episode. Most of the time there are 8-12 frames dropped. You can see it with the Netflix overlay. I don't why this happens, it started a few months ago and get really disturbing. The strange thing is that when watching a movie, there are no frame drops. Please, can you help me. Thanks.
I would like to force playready-h264mpl40-dash
because its often better than playready-h264hpl40-dash, but its not possible, got info that title is not available for instant viewing
is it possible to make it work with some tricks?
In the past few days, I've found hat some titles are failing to play, and I am returned to an error screen with code M7336.
Disabling this addon resolves that. I tried rolling back to the older version, and it's not working either. This title works... This one doesn't.
As of today, March 20, 2024, all extensions for watching Netflix at 1080p have stopped working.
The only extension that seems to work is Turbo-Recadmiumator, but its installation is not easy and permanent (for now).
In the settings tab I cannot check any box except the first (a click will always select the first one).
Save doesn't persist any setting, settings are lost on reload.
1080p was working for a very long time, but now everything seems to be 720p.
Both 1080p and 5.1 audio playback stopped working.
Hey,
I installed your extension and it works as advertised, however since then, Firefox does not remember the window locations on startup.
I have 2 screens and 2 windows for Firefox, on each screen one.
Without your extension enabled, Firefox restores the windows to their respective screens.
If I enable the extension, all windows open on the primary screen.

Hi,
I see you still miss an icon for the add-on. May I interest you in one I freshly baked for you?

Hello, this extension for sure helps lot but I can't get good quality in many movies.
My link is 1Gbps which is far far enough for any NF stream, NF account is premium and set to max quality.
OS: Windows 7 Pro 64bit
CPU: i7 4770k
When I open random series i'm getting resolution 1080 with not so bad video bitrate like 1000-2000 it's far less what I'm getting on latptop with Windows 10 in Edge there is bitrate like 7000 or more, but there are movies like for example Snow White and the Huntsman (2012) which despite of using this addon sets resolution to 960x540 and bitrate just 404. This is just an example but it's happening quite often.
Any idea what I could do ( not counting change CPU or OS )? Is this caused by my CPU or OS?
This makes no sense because on same machine I'm getting good quality NF content with bitrate like 2000 or more and 1080.
Greetings,
Mike
it would be nice if this addon added the capability to enjoy content in 4K; I would really like to be able to watch the 4k content on Netflix (and other services if possible); thanks.

There are a few examples ( modern family is other more) about Netflix not showing more that 540p resolution ( at least in Linux) and it happens with the addon enabled and disabled.
Is it netflix capping Linux or is it a bug in many titles and for windows too?
in the case of danish girl is worse because I have 0.2 Mb of bitrate, it's worse than downloading a pirate dvd file quality and putting it in the tv with a usb
Hello friends, I just tested it on my device. Fortunately, it can be forced to 1080P, but the video stream only has HPL (High@L4) without MPL (Main@L4).
There is no cbr encoding in hpl, which leads to a very low bit rate of the video, but I can see that there is an MPL video stream in your screenshot...how to do it!!
manifest: Test Patterns S01E01
"Allow Netflix to use VP9 for decoding" is enabled by default and causing people to feel that the extension is not working. Having that setting enabled provides a drastically reduced picture quality. This should be DISabled by default as demonstrated by the following images. Notice the terrible banding/posterization/pixelization happening when VP9 is enabled.
VP9 encoding enabled:

VP9 encoding disabled:

Should this setting be removed, or, at least set to disabled by default? This may also be what was causing issues #1 and #24
Hey guys,
This add-on works great for me, I just have one issue.
When I watched an episode, the outro starts, the "next episode" button appears with a timer for the next episode and when the next episode starts, the following UI appears in the center of the screen:
The only way I found to make it to away is to press on "Reset", the add-on still works and now it doesn't appear anymore, even when the next episode starts.
I'm on latest Firefox (84), can someone confirm this issue?
Hi, I have found the following addon in firefox https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/netflix-1080p-firefox/ is this uploaded by you ?
Just want to make sure it is legit version.
Hi developer,
This addon does support 1080p with Firefox on macOS, but I found another issue: when I pause the video then play, or skip intro (click then button), Netflix will show an error page with error code F7375.
I am using the latest version from Firefox add-on store.
I also tried https://github.com/truedread/netflix-1080p (version 1.19) on Brave browser. There is no such pause and play issue using version 1.19.
The test video shows 1080p, but all movies seem to be stuck to 540p. Any hints?
The extension isn't working now. So i disabled and enabled then try again. not working. Then i removed the extension and added again no sign of 1080p. i tested with test pattern while the extension is enabled, the result is only 720p. ctrl+shift+alt+D and see the bitrate is only around 3000 and 720p. Please test the extension again and make it work asap. PLEASE. This extension is very essential and for users who watches netflix on firefox. PLEASE NOTICE AND MAKE IT WORK AGAIN ASAP.
Audio 5.1 it´s not working and audio 2.0 its not working either.
Is it at all feasible to expand the plugin to prime video streams as well which have similar content restrictions for Firefox based browsers
As mentioned in the description, filing and contributing issues is more useful than leaving a negative review when Netflix changes something big on their end that takes time to figure out.
But there's nothing in the description or anywhere else to contact you or see this Github page. In the end, I started digging around and found this.
Maybe if you add a contact or this page's URL to the description (in a way that's clearly visible), you'd get a lot less negative/average reviews that are made to get your attention anyway.
Im using prismatik (ambilight diy) and it need screen capure
Firefox natively allows it, and with this plugins the experience is improved
But not enought like the netflix-4K-DDplus edge plugin (with best quality 5.1 audio)
I want the best of the best
And edge plugin offer that without screen capture
A solution that i found is runing edge in sandboxie BUT that breaks the video improvment
searching why firefox allow screen capture i found this
Firefox for desktop supports the Google Widevine CDM for playing DRM-controlled content. Firefox downloads and enables the Google Widevine CDM by default to give users a smooth experience on sites that require DRM. The CDM runs in a separate container called a sandbox and you will be notified when a CDM is in use.
You can also disable a CDM and opt out of future updates by following the steps below. Once you disable a CDM, however, sites using this type of DRM may not operate properly.
It seems like sandboxie and the firefox sandbox works in the same way, locking the content in 540p
Despite having this addon installed Netflix only gives me 720p videos in my Firefox 88.0.1 (64-bit) on Windows 7. Until some weeks ago I got 1080p videos with this setup. In addition the Netflix App on my XBox One gave and still gives me 1080p videos, so neither my Netflix plan nor my internet connection should be the problem.
I'm using release 1.13 from the firefox addon website.
By default, the vp9-profile0-L40-dash-cenc
ends up getting used, and I get mediocre bitrates (~1000kbps).
If I remove all the vp9 profiles from the list, the manifest API responds with the playready-h264*-dash
profiles, of which the playready-h264hpl40-dash
has the best bitrates (~6000kbps).
I imagine this behaviour might change over time, or for different titles, so perhaps a "enable VP9 profiles" settings toggle should be added?
Please :)
Hi there, first off thanks for the addon :)
I used to use the original https://github.com/vladikoff/netflix-1080p-firefox but I haven't needed it recently as simply spoofing the useragent was doing the trick... until recent days where I got the 'endlessly loading spinner' thing.
So, I went looking for the addon and found this one, not realising it was forked. I read in the issues of the original, that it was removed as it had shipped containing netflix's JS. I can only assume you've resolved that matter.
Is it time for a merge?
Hi, I really love this addon. I have yet to encounter any video quality issue ever since I start using it. I wish there was an extension for Chrome with similar features.
The problem with chrome is it uses VP9 by default with abysmal bitrate, sometimes even less than 1000Kbps for 1080p streams and there is no way to change that. The original addon development for chrome has almost been abandoned. If possible, can you please port the selection feature like "Allow Netflix to use VP9 for decoding" or just port the whole addon for chrome? please?
