pictochat's Issues

Did you drop this project?

I think it's an interesting project. I wanted to connect pictochat with discord too so doing some research I found your project and I'm wondering why you droped it. Anyways, I'll get a 2nd DS in a couple days to start sniffing pictochat messages and find out how they works.

Cheers!

Extend to become a Ni-Fi library

Okay, this is very far-fetched but since I suspect the PictoChat procotol to depend on Ni-Fi sessions (like DS Multiplayer games), this library could become a starting point to reverse-engineering all of the DS's Ni-Fi protocols (imagine, homebrew Download Play games from PC) if it becomes developed enough.

[Personal tracker] Buy a Prism54 WiFi adapter

Yep, I'm an idiot and bought an official Nintendo Wi-Fi dongle, thinking it would run on Prism54. Turns out it can sniff packets, just not the ones sent by Ni-Fi/PictoChat. I'll be closing this bug when I get around to buying a compatible Wi-Fi adapter and make the original pictosniff work on it.

Implement first API

This is the main issue tracking development on the PCPA library. By the time this issue is fixed, at least the PictoChat sniffer and spoofer should be able to work, even if on one channel only.

Requirements:

  • Buy a Prism54 WiFi adapter (#1)
  • Test and clean up PictoSniff code (#2)
  • Reverse-engineer PictoChat message generation
  • Send a PictoChat to a real Nintendo DS
  • Document everything so far using Doxygen

Extra objectives:

  • Reverse-engineer all four PictoChat channels
  • Successfully send and receive messages on all four channels
  • Base the library on ESP32 (#5)

This issue will not be worked on until #2 is closed.

Use ESP32 as a hardware base

Hi!

I wonder if a microcontroller platform such as an ESP32 devkit where you can recieve (and send - https://github.com/Jeija/esp32-80211-tx) arbitrary IEEE 802.11 would be a good start for a project like yours.

So you would have full control over the hardware and could still implement a top-level API for serial or USB, communication that then would allow for platform independent clients...
