Issue installing for multiple users

The File Converter option is missing from the system menu for new users on the machine. Application works for the user who installed the application but not for other user's accounts. Is there something I can add to the default user registry to enable functionality for new users? The application is installed just not functional. Each user must uninstall and reinstall to gain functions.

.TS format

Can you add FileConverter option in the context menu for .ts files ?

Feature request: Copy Audio/Video stream (Remux), h.265, Change AspectR...

Useful feature would be:

Copy Audio and/or Video stream without encoding (Remuxing)
h.265 (x265 in ffmpeg) support
Change Aspect Ratio in Container flags (w/o re-encoding)
Resizing by numbers (in addition to %)
Cropping
Custom ffmpeg command line (to add special filters like deinterlace etc)

If you fear this will break "easy mode" maybe you can add an "Advanced" button/mode.

Windows closing without warning

Closing the window without warning nor information can make the user believe something wrong happened or that the program "crashed".
A timer could inform the user of the "auto close window" feature after conversion.

Weird issue converting Motion JPEGs to mp4 or avi

I'm using windows 8. FileConverter 1.2.3 64 bit.
After converting Motion JPEGs (taken from two different cameras) to mp4/mkv (h264) or avi (xvid) the thumbnails from file explorer don't show. Just the icon, but not the thumbnail. And with the mp4, If I open it with Windows Media Player or Video app (default win8 video app) the video doesn't show, only the audio. They both open ok with VLC or Zoom player.

If I convert an xvid or another file type to mp4 or avi, there aren't any problems, the thumbnails are generated ok. The issue is only converting from Motion JPEG to mp4/mkv/avi.

Should I try updating some codecs?

De-Interlace

I use a DV Video film from a Sony Camera. With VLC 3.0.3 I have imported the file into my pc. However when I convert the file, the movie needs deinterlacing. If I convert with ffmpeg with the yadif parm it works fine. However I prefer to use the File Converter, since it is very user friendly.
Any suggestion ?

Feature request: add support to wma in audio conversions.

This program is awesome, really, this is the first time it doesn't attends my needs. It's not a very used format, but having it would be cool.

Is this a github password or from the developer? I don't know what the password is.

Preset changes not saved on non-admin session

Hello,

I tried to edit a preset but I got two issues doing it.

• When I try to save my edited preset, a Windows user account control dialog is shown. This is not expected as presets should be editable on a per-user basis.
• Then, even if I successfully validate the previous dialog, the edited preset is not saved. (The next time I open the Setting window, my changes are not here). This issue appears only using a non-admin user.

I hope this help, and btw your file converter is a really great initiative.

In case it can help, I am on Windows 10 x64.
Also, no conversion options are available in the explorer context menu using the non-admin account. (No problem with the admin account).

Add .MPG extension

Some devices use .MPG extension instead .MPEG, and with them File Converter menu doesn't appear. I normally change them to .MPEG and it appears, but maybe it can be added to avoid doing that every time.

CMYK to RGB Color Model

Hello! As for a picture formats would be a great deal to make a change from CMYK to RGB color model, and opposite RGB to CMYK (and if it possible other color models - LAB, HSV, HSL, and NCS).

File Metadata not kept after conversion

After converting an mp3 to aac, I realized several limitations, one is the lack of VBR encoding and the most serious one is that MetaData is not kept after conversion, so Title, Album and other metadata is lost,

Saving not possible

When i try to save a preset the "Save" button is disabled.
This started happening around a few weeks ago.

No preset saving possible

Very useful program in general but one important thing doesn't work:
On my PC (Win10/64bit built 1709 - admin rights) the button for saving presets is greyed and it's not possible to save a preset (the inbuilt presets work for converting files, by the way).
What I tried so far: changing the rights of FileConverter.exe to full (just to be sure), running the RegistryInitialization.reg manually (the settings have been accepted by the registry). The Log file says:
"The number of processors on this computer is 4. Set the default number of conversion threads to 4
Maximum number of conversion threads: 4" - but where can I change this (if this is the cause for the problem)?

Convert PDF to JPG

When I convert PDF to JPG, the white background became black. Can you add option to change background's color of PDF, PNG...?

Rotation Not Working From mp4 to mp4

When converting mp4 to mp4 with rotation, the video does not rotate. All the other settings work, but the outputted mp4 file simply isn't rotated. Running Windows 7 64bit and tried both 64bit and 32bit versions of FileConverter - same result.

I am dying for this program to work! Hoping the bug can be fixed and will gladly send $donation if so!!! thanks

Not a bug or anything back-end, but I would like to donate a few bucks or so due to how useful this is to me. Unfortunately, the site that is being used as a donation receptor is archived as of February 2018. No loss to me if this isn't looked at, but it could be good for the devs to change.

Convert Jpg to Bitmap?

Will it be possible to convert a jpg to a bitmap with this program later on in the future? Because I need to convert jpg to bitmap for plasmacam and dont want to spend hundreds of dollars on a software.

This is for 64-Bit Windows Only?

No instructions for system requirements? I'm on XP Professional. Let me know?

Feature request: Allow user to specify file extension

At the moment, it's not possible to specify file extensions in the File Name Template. It would be very useful if you could add that feature. For example, a user might want .aac files to be written with the .m4a or .m4b extension. Thanks.

File Converter not working after uninstall & re-install

I uninstalled File Converter on Windows 10 PC (it was working file but I was trying to pin down an annoying Windows issue by removing things) then tired to re-install it. Surprisingly File Converter didn't re-appear in the explorer context menu after re-running the installer.
Additionally, if I try to change the defaults (e.g. disable png to jpg conversion) the settings dialog simply vanishes when I press the Save button (I suspect it's crashing when I hit Save).
Repairing and re-installing haven't made any difference.
(The user has admin rights)
Any ideas?

Memory leak

When I try to convert a .png to a 25% .png, it gets stuck on "in queue" before the system freezes and the memory usage climbs forever at a rate of 1GB 1-2 seconds.

Just got the program today, looks real promising!

Default Conversion Presets After Update

When I updated to last version some default valued changed in preset.
For example the "To small PNG (25%)" was 1600%.

Huge surprise to see multiple 42GB files poping on disk.

The converted videos lose the original modified date. So when I add them to google photos, they are not sorted ok,

The converted videos should retain the original's modified date.

Tout d'abord, je souhaite vous féliciter pour ce programme qui est excellent !!!
Je rencontre un souci dans l'outil de configuration de File Converter.
Le bouton "Enregistrer" est grisé. Je peux créer une nouvelle règle mais je ne peux pas l'enregistrer.
Idem pour les règles existantes, impossible de les modifier car le bouton "Enregistrer" reste toujours grisé.

Si je peux vous apporter plus d'éléments sur ce problème afin de le solutionner, n'hésitez pas à me le faire savoir.

Configuration utilisée : Windows 10 Pro x64 - Core i7 vPro

Hi,
FileConverter supports TIFF files, but only the ones with .tiff extension. Is it possible to add support to .tif files also?

Framerate selection

Would be nice to be able to:

• Select a list of frame rates to use when making/editing a preset
• Convert variable frame rates to constant frame rates

Je trouve ce logiciel super pratique ! Depuis le temps que je cherchais un convertisseur (vidéo, surtout) libre et sans installation de pubs... Il est très simple et, en même temps, on peut modifier des paramètres si on le souhaite ! J'en viens à ma question : est-il prévu de pouvoir convertir des fichiers vidéo de format ".ts" ? Ce serait super pratique !

File Converter (64 bit) Setup Wizard ended prematurely because of an error.

This occurs if I try to do a REPAIR or a REMOVE. Your context menu does NOT show up. Tried several times to repair/remove.
