"Token is incorrect" yet it is correct and there is data stored there

(node:89) UnhandledPromiseRejectionWarning: Error: Token is incorrect, unable to read data.
I have even tried using a whole new database token, but it is still spitting out the same error. Here is the code that I have (the token that it's given is correct, I've checked what the TOKEN outputs)

const jsonstore = require('jsonstore.io');
require('dotenv').config();
var store = new jsonstore(process.env.TOKEN); // Token is not undefined

How can I use it to store a new item in an array ?

Without having a counter variable if possible
