Chrome 71 removed the flag that enables per-tab audio muting.

This extension allows you to mute individual tabs again by a context menu option or interacting with the extension icon in the browser frame.

Usage

• Install from the Chrome Web Store
• Download source and 'Load Unpacked' extension from chrome://extensions page.

Still muting per site

Using google meet, whenever I mute one of the tabs, then the other mute as well. I'm using Vivaldi web browser

Not working with Vivaldi

The extension is not working with Vivaldi, I can see (when I play a video) that the sound icon is marked as muted at the start but then almost inmediately it unmutes itself.

Stopped working on latest version of Chrome

Chrome just updated to Version 100.0.4896.127, and the plugin (version 1.4) no longer works. It does not respond to the mouse click to mute the tab.

Mutes all tabs or cuts off volume

Since yesterday afternoon, anytime I use the Mute Tab extension, it cuts off the volume on ALL of my tabs. I'm running multiple Google Meet groups in breakout rooms for my students, and on Monday and Tuesday, the mute tab extension worked well to silence the rooms one at a time. Then, yesterday afternoon and this morning when I went to use it, it would shut down the audio in all of my Google Meets, not just one. It then became that even when "unmuted", all of my audio was gone and I could no longer hear anything my students said. The only solution was restarting my computer. I hope this issue can be fixed because I really liked this extension.

Add a default shortcut key

Thank you very much for the chrome extension, it is fantastic.

It would be helpful to add a default keyboard shortcut key to toggle sound on a tab.

I recently found out that you can customize this by going to More Tools | Extensions | Keyboard Shortcuts but it would be much more plug-and-play to set a default.

Right now I'm using Ctrl + M
