Quotation marks are tricky. The ASCII quotation mark ("
) is used both as left and as right quotation mark. One might think that typographical quotation marks ([„“”‚‘’»«›‹]
) and their Unicode properties simplify the issue. However, there are different typographical conventions using the same quotation marks („…“
, “…”
, »…«
, «…»
), so the following set is ambiguous: ["“‘»«›‹]
. I've added a few heuristics to help disambiguate between left and right quotation marks. Version 2.0.5 should get your example sentence right.
