Yup - I'm happy to help - I'm always busy but can make some time. Thanks for linking to my article, Steve :) I'm happy to donate that article in an updated/condensed form, or just the ideas behind it.
On other idea that comes to mind right now, something that Charles and I were talking about recently, is how with JRuby any Rubyist can take advantage of the wealth of Java code libraries that are out there, that wouldn't be available for an MRI app.
