Which rendering engine does Via use?

Via uses the built-in WebView renderer included on the Android platform. On Android 5.0+ devices, the WebView implementation is usually Android System WebView (com.google.android.webview), you can update it in the Play Store for a better browsing experience. If you want to know the current WebView implementation and version of your device, you can click "Settings - About" in Via and tap on the Via logo to get the debugging information which contains the WebView information.

How to disable JavaScript or set a special user agent for a website?

Open the site, click the magnifying glass or shield icon on the left side of the address bar, and then you can configure it separately.

Or open "Settings-General-Site Configuration" to add configuration manually.

I don’t want to block ads on a certain site.

Please refer to the previous question, you can turn off ad blocking for the site in the site configuration.

Why can't Via save the password?

Unfortunately, Google removed this particular feature from WebView. You can try using the autofill app(Bitwarden, KeePass, etc.) if the Android version of your device is higher than or equal to 8.0.

Why can't Via scan the QR code?

There are too many applications that can scan QR codes, and I don’t want to add such a repetitive function. You can scan the QR code with your phone's camera app.

Starting from version 4.3.4, Via has added a built-in QR code scanner.

passwords/logins not saving

I am having issues with via browser not saving passwords or any website login information.

The page refresh button overrides the QrCodeScan button

After surfing, when you close all tabs, the page refresh button is displayed over the button QrCodeScan

Reading mode

Does this browser have reading mode? If not, it would be a nice addition.

Panes not scrolling

Logitech Media Server does not scroll, neither the left or right pane - screenshot & code attached.
Opera Mini has same problem, Opera does it correctly.

一点击，输入法就档完了，输网址贼难受，把地址栏放回顶部吧

建议，选中文本后弹出的工具条增加【链接打开】项

当在页面选中文本后，会弹出选项，比如
粘贴，复制，页面搜索之类的。
希望增加一个打开链接的项。

原因: 有时候读网页的时候，上面有一些链接，这个连接有时候是单纯的文本。
选中后，不能快速打开。

Is there any text selected translation plugin(划词搜索插件)?

Webpage Symbol on Desktop not in high solution

You could creat a website symbol / shortcut on desktop for the site Readhub.
Just compare the shortcut between the yours and the one created by Yandex, u gonna see it.

Need option to disable status bar color merging.

I'm using Zuk z2. Most of the time I can't see time and signal info in the status bar, because it's totally white when the web page is white based theme.

Dark mode without affecting brightness

I think it was asked before but the issue was closed without explanation. Would it be possible to use the dark theme without lowering the brightness?

User should select what to see in main screen.
For example, I want to see google logo and google search bar with predictions in my open screen(homepage).

Please add an option to get the dark ui of night mode without the darkening of web pages? The white interface isn't ugly - just very bright and night mode makes web pages a little difficult to read when light conditions aren't very low.
Via has been a very pleasant experience so far - fast to start, responsive, uncluttered. Well done!

Options when clearing data do not save

The app reverts back to a default and this is INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS. IT IS WAY TO EASY TO ACCIDENTALLY DELETE DATA. You have to set this EVERYTIME.

There is an option in via browser version 3.1.5 that would let users customize menu items. Users could drag and sort menu items as per their preferences. But in the latest version you removed this option that is making via browser hard to use.

I always save webpages and create shortcut of webpages on home screen for reading them later.
And I often use other useful commands too.

In version 3.1.5 I could easily save page, create shortcut, check history, switch to desktop site by going to menu and choosing a command (I had arrenged all those commands as per my preference) but now I have to go to menu, click on tools, check where the specific command is and click on it that is hard, time consuming and annoying. So please I request you to bring back that customize menu items option (drag and sort menu items) back.

Also this latest version (3.2.0)
saves pages titles with symbols in between, these titles had spaces in previous version but now they have '+ %' signs, thats annoying.

Please I request you to fix this issue and bring the customize menu items (drag and sort menu items) back. Both issues are important to solve making this browser best.

add-ons and they are in a language other than english. The addons may be valuable but the 3-4 that are available are useless unless you can use the original language

Feature to place bookmark in default homepage

Like chrome, in the default homepage, we can config the bookmark to show in that page, because currently if we want to open a bookmark item, we need to: select menu -> bookmark -> click item, not so convenience.

Changes action/behavior of buttons not working in simple UI mode

When defining eg a custom action for the home button (= scroll to page end), it works in the standard UI - but not in the simpel UI

Ever Increase App Size

The ultra light browser Via is awesome. And I love this specific browser even more than Chrome.

The issue that I've been experiencing lately is that the app size increases as I browse, and it keeps increasing. I tried cleaning everything with the options in the settings, no good news though. The 900kB app data reaches 16 + MB within 4 days and keeps increasing.

Is it normal? Can you suggest anything helpful to keep the size as less as possible?

Videos are purple & green (HW acceleration Toggle)

Recently switched to VIA and found this problem. Videos are green & purple colored.

I know it's related to HW acceleration.
I also found this problem on chrome & fixed it by going to chrome://flags and disabling "HW accelerated video decode".

As much as I know there are no option like chrome://flags in VIA. If there is please let me know.

And if there isn't,
Please add a toggle for HW acceleration in the settings menu.

Request page and link-info feature.

The feature i want is "page info" (just like what the "uc mini" browser have), the feature that so useful for us the user.

Page info feature mean, we can check what page are we at..

and link-info feature mean, we can check what url are we going to click.

It can make us avoid scamming site, fake login, or even malware site..

After we hold a link for a long time the "dialog" that via browser have, via have an option of "page info" before the "Mark as AD" option.

能否增强一下主页展示书签的自定义功能

via主页显示书签是按照书签的顺序来排的，但是这样很难控制你想要显示的书签。文件夹里的书签会显示在最前面。
能否把主页展示的书签(像其他浏览器的快速访问功能)和书签页面里的分离，可以单独设置，不是按照书签的顺序来排列

limited to 32 bookmarks?

this seems to be much too small a number, should also be allowed to group these 32 into groups of folders, at least then we could have 32 folders with x amount webpages in each. still it would just be better if that number is expanded to 64.

Unable to save some pages

Hello this is the best browser available for Android. I only use via browser for browsing. Heartly thanks to the developer for the app but I am having one issue with this browser it does not save some pages in my lenovo k4 note.. I am using the latest version of via browser v3.1.5. I am providing some links of pages that via browser is not saving.

Color mode for operation bars not working on home screen

since the latest update the color mode (general settings) does not affect anymore the homescren of VIA. Before it adapted to any customized color...

How to change language and gesture

I have set the language of my phone to traditional Chinese. Could I use simplified Chinese in Via?

I have noticed that Via has gesture for refresh, back and forward. Could I turn off some of them?

Fast scroll down/up button

When scrolling through (long) pages a button appearing near the scrollbar on the right might be handy - when scrolling down "arrow down" bringing you to the end, when scrolling up "urrow up" bringing you to the top.

Previous version had a setting to open links in a new Tab.
Version 3.0 seems to be missing this option. Can it be added again, please?

Feature Request: Optionally Deleting Browsing Data on Exit

memory and battery issue

i like this little browser very much, but i found two issues.

1. the memory increase dramatically as time increase.
2. after close the browser, the browser's background processes still use battery heavily.

Opening links with image inside opens the image

Hello!

I’m having this slight problem with opening links with images attached to them in the background or in new tab… (so a-tag with an img-tag inside it) the browser seems to always open the image rather than the webpage. Really annoying when the link doesn't have other visible content inside it and it's impossible to open it in a new tab.

(Also totally besides the point, but about tab says Glean rather than Clean)

Little bit more space for "Toolbar" at bottom

Is it possible to give the toolbar at the bottom a little bit more space (height)?

With Android devices having a physical back key, you mistakenly quite often hit this instead of the tabs button...

If not as a default, can you maybe make this adjustable by user via the settings?

Auto-refresh issue

After we switch back to via
via "refresh" all pages we opened
even if the via process still alive, running in background.

It's annoying actually, for example when we are reading an article, we switch to our dictionary app, translate it then switch to via again, via then refresh all the webpages we opened.
