Make it easier to delete all highlights on a page (in a single click?)

Today, I see the following options to delete all highlights on a single page:

• Right-click > context menu > Delete highlight (drawback: does not delete all highlights simultaneously)
• Toolbar button > History > look for page > press Delete button (drawback: too many steps involved)
• Open sidebar > press dustbin icon under Page Actions (drawback: does not delete all highlights simultaneously)

An extra option in the context menu, "Delete all highlights", could be very useful to me.
And maybe the same for notes: "Delete all notes".

Renaming Highlights

I apologize if this has been requested or is already added, but could there be an option to rename highlights? I couldn't find anything really relating to that.

I'll give the tl;dr details below:

I'm using this as a replacement for Wired-Marker for bookmarking (or highlighting, in this case) flower seed catalogs. Some seed sites simply list seeds by type (ex: http://www.seedman.com/nasturtium.htm), making marking them necessary when comparing seed offerings between catalogs. Most I've marked them by highlighting the name and making that the highlight's name.

However, as in the example I've listed, some websites list them by variety, making it easy to lose them when I'm searching through my highlights for, say, 'nasturtium'. While I can tag them, it'd be much easier to just rename the outliers, or allow the option via right-click menu to pick whether I want to specify the name or not.

I used to use Wired-Marker to mark online seed catalogs before the jump to Quantum, and your add-on's been the only one I found that gets close to what it did. Thanks a bunch!

Are there plans to support highlighting visibility and commands when viewed in Reader View?

Manual recovery

I would love a function to recover the highlightings manually. I use the Textmarker very much on a login-website using a lot of javascript. Now it often starts the recovering and reports a sucess before I open certain submenus on the website. However, because textmarker reported success earlier I cannot retry the recovery after rendering new text parts.

Version 5.0.0 not highlighting in iFrames in FF 67.0.4 (64-bit)

worked fine before today's update.

I have attempted fault resolution by:-
• checking/unchecking boxes in settings>misc;
• uninstalling/reinstalling;
• downgrading to version 4.1.1 (that works).

Add an option to view a summary of highlight texts

Currently there is an option to download the highlighted text. It will be nice to add another option to able to view the summary of highlights for a note in the browser.

Notes: appearance & vertical resizing

Is it possible to have the note resizeable to 1 line, 1 cm wide, remove the header part and put the drag to reposition the note in another small box (or even put colour/close/move/resize into a right click menu when right click on the note)? Sometimes just want to fit 1 word note in between 2 lines.

About "create folder" function

Hello, I have posted comments on the firefox adds-on page. Still wondering if you could add "create folder" function to help users better sort out saved history. Also, could you please let users set and change local directory for saved history?

Multi-part CTRL selection problem

As Firefox supports the selection of many disparate pieces of text on the page, I figure it should translate to highlights nicely. Instead the whole segment between the first selection and the last is highlighted.

The desired behavior would aid us in summarizing the contents of a piece of text, for instance. The mark entries could be formatted with [...] as separators, if that's practical.

Hey,

Your tool looks really polished and easy to use. (I just installed it). I tried to highlight text parts in online PDFs, but it didn't work. Is it possible with your tool? Did I miss something to enable in the setup?
If not, would be lovely to be able to do that.

Enable multiple highlighting methods simultaneously

Achievable via changing the radio buttons to tick boxes in Settings > Shortcuts > Choose a highlight method.

Context menu does not appear on highlighted links?

On the latest version of Firefox, highlighted links do not give the option to select "delete highlight" on the drop down menu when right clicking the link like it does when doing the same to highlighted non-linked text. Limitation or missing feature?

The menu selections, none of them responds t my click. And the shortcut does't work either.

Shortcut problems

I believe I was once able to use my "0" custom highlighter by pressing "0".

Now that doesnt work. At Shortcuts, next to "Custom Marker" I have "?" and key combinations with "?". If I switch between them, I get something like "unexpected error: unable to save configuration".

It would be grate to name History items using highlighted words automatically.

Feature request: I need automatic naming of new History items be done by using a highlighted word. Right now we can can choose between Page title as a name or Date as a name.
Use case: huge army of foreign language learners.

• true Save changes automatically
• false Save changes manually

How would you like to name your history entries?

• false By current date
• false By page's title
• false Use custom name
• true By using a highlighted word (It allows multiple items for one URL)

Fresh install on beta channels has only a subset of features unless it is enabled for private tabs, perhaps put a note on the extensions page.

Mathjax support

Hi,

textMarker isn't able to restore highlights that contains mathematical expressions written with Mathjax and then I get an error "impossible to restore".

I guess it is an encoding problem? Or maybe it is because there is a difference between the source html code and the actual rendered text..

Furthermore, I am not sure but it looks like once I have highlighted a math expression, all the following highlights are very buggy.

That would be awesome if you found a way to solve this.

Enable user to easily copy highlights while being on corresponding page.

Hello,
It's a pleasure to use your already awesome add-on which contains more and more functionalities. Two suggestions though:

1. It's not easy to go to a specific highlight on a long page. It would be nice to have a way to jump between the highlights: a keyboard shortcut? buttons on the side of the page?
2. Is it possible to customize the sticky notes: more transparency with lost of focus? and, why not, color of the note background?
   These are only suggestions, not fundamental, and I don't know if the implementation is possible...

New coming version 5: Problem of permissions?

Hi ufb,

I started to translate strings for the new version 5, it remains only the manual and troubleshooting pages.

But I encounter problems to test furthermore:
First, I was not able to make any highlight. I've had to add the "content_scripts" part from the previous version in the manifest file. That's OK now.
But then, the highlights are not being restored at page reload. Note that they are present in the history and no notifications pop up.

Is this problem of permissions, in the Textmarker code?

Firefox 66 just "disabled" it

It would be extremely helpful to highlight all occurrences of selected identifier(s) during code review here on github. To generalize this request, it would suffice to highlight all matching words on the page by single command.

Usage flow:
Double-ckick a word -> Select color -> See all usages of that word on page

When simply used as a way to get better orientation in large code, this does not need saving, so no need for complicated implementation as indicated in this related request #41 .

Hello, why was it deleted from firefox addon website?

What happened? Upset!

Mark several occurrences of one word/expression

It would be nice to have the option to search for a term and then mark all occurrences. Especially for lists this could be helpful.

Workflow might be: select a word and then instead of „mark“ have a second option „mark all“.

(I know it is possible to highlight a sidewide search (strg+f) in the browser by default, but only for one search term at a time and only one default color.)

Please use more obvious UX element

The settings/sync part is confusing. Actually I still not sure when the sync is enabled. When the on/off button is grey or cyan? Usually the right position is the on (I believe) but the grey color (for me) means it is off.

Not Working in Firefox ESR 52.8.0 (32-Bit)

I just installed Textmarker, but unfortunately it is not working.

The only entry in the dropdown list that is doing something is "Pausiere Textmarker".
Something = the icon changes
All other buttons do nothing.

In other highlighters that I use and have used like Persistent Highlighter and Wired Marker(no longer works), the highlighted text appears centered in the middle of the page.

This allows one to see the context of the highlight without scrolling.

Bugs in version 3.6.0?

Hi,
It seems there are problems with new experimental features?

• Fuzzy display in detail-view with a synced entry in the history.
• History tab : the ability to select all entries is disappeared, it's impossible to remove an assigned tag and the new action "Filter by tag" is missing.

Is it an assumed pre-behaviour with these experimental features?

No pop-up from version 4.0.1

Hello,
If I choose the highlight method via pop-up, the small pop-up with markers doesn't appear.
This worked well in version 4.0.0!
