First: Send your "Fragebogen zur steuerlichen Erfassung"

The registration as a freelance in Germany ... you can do it also with Get Sorted* But do I need a Umsatzsteuer-ID (VAT number), an steuer-ID (Tax ID number) or a Steuernummer (Freelance Tax number) ? Or all of them ? Check here Link

VAT Return

If you need to charge VAT to your clients Link, Link, or if you sell your services to other countries, you need to report your income to the Finanzamt doing a Umsatzsteuervoranmeldung (UstVA), or advance VAT return. Link
