Update-Database and Exception

CORS is a flaming pile of %%$@$%

Sorry but I got to vent, been trying for over a day to make CORS work and so far it's a total cluster F****

I have seen so many different answers and I have not got any of them to really work!
some almost work, some give be a 405 others give me a 500.

seems like web api should just work if the cors packages are there and enable cors is set but that's not what I am getting!

Doesn't update database

How come these simple Visual Studio projects hardly ever run out of the box :) ... .Never fails to astound!

When I run the Update-Database I get the following error:-

An error occurred while getting provider information from the database. This can be caused by Entity Framework using an incorrect connection string. Check the inner exceptions for details and ensure that the connection string is correct.

This is on windows 10 on a new install of visual studio 2015 community.

Is it something to do with localDB?

Dear Mike, Thanks for this great tutorial. I have a small issue. If I want to publish your application on IIS server and make it distributed, then what I need to change. I tried a lot but I don't know why I am getting Cross Domain error or something. I modified the url (api) as (http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/api/books) inside application but didn't work. Don't know what to do. If you please share the process to make it a distributed application it will help me a lot.

N.B: I have already attached the database on SQL SERVER, ran migration and worked like as expected from code end (running visual studio).

i try to run the your bookservice web-project on visual studio 2013, but when commended the " update-database" or even " enable-migrations" on Nuget-command, i have this error:

i sure about sql server(use sql server 2014) name and even cleaned the temprory file, but still i have this error...
can you help me to solve this problem?

The Azure deployment fails with the region

Tried the "deploy to azure" option on the MSDN, but get the error ...
No registered resource provider found for location 'North Europe' and API version '2.0' for type 'servers'. The supported api-versions are '2014-01-01, 2014-04-01, 2014-04-01-preview, 2015-05-01-preview'. The supported locations are 'australiaeast, australiasoutheast, etc. etc.
