TaskbarDock

TaskbarDock offers a few extra features to customize your Windows 10 taskbar.

TODO:

• TileDock (dock a group of applications in tiles)
• Customize pinned icons

FEATURES:

• Center icons relative to its area or to the screen
• Transparency for taskbar (incompatible with other tools) #warning
• Multimonitor support
• Toggle taskbar icons small/big
• Autorun
• Remember settings

KNOWN ISSUES:

• Restoring opacity to taskbar needs manual procedures (like locking/unlocking taskbar with its context menu)

Current Status:

It is still in progress.

You can test it downloading it from releases page.

How to use:

Launch the application and you will find it at the taskbar's systray icon section.

Right click it and test this beta.

Notice:

This is still in early development, so bare in mind it has a lot of improvement to be done.

bug report & multi language support

Tested the latest version 0.1.65.

what i did
center checked everything is fine
restart explorer icons gone
restart explorer+1 icons back
restart explorer+1 gone
restart explorer+1 back
...
......
etc

it seems i need to restart explorer twice to show the icons on taskbar
and also the CPU and RAM usage is a little high.

I wanna to translate it to Chinese, how?

missing setting unit

i got an error on uses settings;

error settings unit not found .. i cant find it on source code .. did you miss to include settings pas file ?

Access violation in module 'TaskbarDock.exe'

That issue appears when if i try to launch it from C:\Program Files (x86) or C:\Program Files folders. I guess cause the executable doesn't have permissions to write in those folders and can't create .db file.

dark gray rectangle top/left on monitor

Hi

I get always a dark gray rectangle hiding the the top/left 4 x 3 icons on the main screen.
this is a showstopper due to hiding everything in this area...

Cannot install app - Failed to set data for 'AppsUseLightTheme'

Throws the attached error. Failed to set data for 'AppsUseLightTheme'

Right clicking causes crash

I launch the exe, a data file is created in its directory. I see the icon in the system tray, left clicking does nothing, right clicking it causes it to disappear and I assume it's crashing because it also disappears from the task manager.

Centering doesn't work on Windows setting "Automatically hide the taskbar in desktop mode"

List index out of bounds (0)

I am getting sometimes the error message "List index out of bounds (0)" multiple times.

if I can propose some small features

I would like to propose these small features, partly already feasible in windows but really badly done and managed, I think it would take your implementation of the windows taskbar to a higher level.

1. As you can see from the small preview in the attachment, the idea would be to be able to position the icons of the open software always in the standard way from left to right, but alternatively to be able to pin fixed icons on the bar, which can be positioned in 3 points of the bar, left (normal method), center or right.
   So for example, having in pin the icons of your favorite software positioned on the right and additional software open if necessary on the left.
   Currently you have to create a new folder with linked icons to put them on the right, but it's a mess when this thing could be done natively on the taskbar.

2. Another feature would be to be able to put folders on the right, and going up in mouse hover, the subfolders are cascaded so as to have for example a general folder where you can quickly access other subfolders without these being opened in the explorer . This is already half doable with add to toolbar, but it works poorly.
   I would like the icon of the general folder on the bar and going above to open the subfolders menu ... a bit like what happens on Apple's OSX.

Multi-monitor support

Do you have any plans to add this? Because right now it looks weird to have only the main one be transparent

Taskbar icon crashes when i right click it

when i launch the app and click the icon it just disappears

Doesn't remember some settings after reboot

These are the settings I have enabled.

But after I reboot, the center and transparent settings are unchecked.

I use version 0.1.65-r20190920.

Does maybe a newer version fix this?

Request: center vertical

Hey. First of all, let me thank you for your great work. Very handy tool.

I'm wondering if there is the possibility to implement the center icon feature for a vertical dock. Usually I just move mine to the left side of the screen and currently the app still leaves icons at the top.

Transparency doesn't turn off

If I uncheck the transparency option the taskbar is still transparent.
Even if Transparent=0 is set.

Question- Is this app still being maintained?

I notice there hasn't been any activity on the app in a year or so.

Generally it works well, but it is still a little buggy. I get an error box often and some of the functions seem to not work intermittently.

I like the app very much, it would be a shame if development stopped on it...

(Also I don't know how else to reach out the developer. I've looked and looked for an email but can't find anything. And his Twitter isn't receiving direct messages.)

[FEATURE REQUEST] Having the settings / configuration stored to a file

Hello there! I've been using Taskbar Dock for a while now and its a great application. However, I would like to have it save my settings that I've configured (Center, Center Relative etc.) to any file so that I don't have to keep on clicking on the options manually. May you please add this feature so that it can be much simpler to have the settings be permanent?

App works perfectly on windows 11 dev build, some suggestions.

The side tray area has white icons for everything in windows 11 and it will be beneficial if they change color with respect to the background by just negating the colors behind them. For example, if I am on a browser, the white web pages prevent me from seeing the icons and so on.

could you make a supplementary change in functionality?

Functionally, can you make the taskbar smaller when using small icons? The taskbar of Windows 10 is very wide. When the screen ratio is 16: 9, the task bar still takes up too much space even if you use the small icons that come with the system. I don't know if you intend to make a small icon different from the system to make the taskbar narrower. By the way, in the new version of Tester 2004, taskbardock still works well. Feature: Tiles group pinned to taskbar

Feature: Tiles in group pinned to the taskbar.

• Mimic Windows 10 Start Menu tiles and arrange them similarly, simple for starters
• Include OSX like stacks too, but only on bottom taskbar for the moment
• Use simple json list of elements to include in the pinned group
• Detect taskbar's icon whose it belongs to (multitaskbar support, later)
• Optional add context menu like list
• Separated in another executable to launch only when required so it saves memory

Crash when taskbar is set to mask automatically

I'm not quite sure whether this is a bug or a feature request so here goes:

When using TaskbarDock, everything works fine unless I try to activate the option to mask the taskbar automatically (the windows setting)

When I try to use that setting, the app crashes and I get this error message, twice

I don't know if this comes from a limitation inherent to how you interact with the taskbar but would there be a way to be able to auto hide the taskbar to regain the extra space when not needed, and only make it appear when we hover over ?

Request: Icon Launchers/Dropdowns

I'm really glad that people have started working on improvements for the very conservative windows 10 taskbar. Thank you for your excellent work.

Feature: experimental skinning

Skinning in secondary form.

I know this is ugly without using hooks. But as a starting and concept point, let's add these experimental feature:

• Skinnable form behind the taskbar (main taskbar for the moment, multitaskbar later)
• Use BlurBehind from DWMApi to show a taskbar similar to original but smaller
• Use LayeredWindows to draw a custom theme from PNG, maybe compatible with RocketLauncher background pictures.
• optional Draw over Windows 10 taskbar using a hacky LayeredUpdate restoring icons from IAccessible data.

dont start

no instructions "how to install / what's need" in binary folder.
If i start TaskbarDock.exe call me error is missing sqlite3.dll.
Downloade and copy sqlite3 to binary folder (in system32 not work).
Start agan - now show me new error code (0xc000007b)

Feature: Customiz taskbar's pinned icons in groups

Manage icons pinned in the taskbar with the following features:

• Group pinned icons in order to switch them as wish
• Allow to change icons on Windows 10 May 2019 Update light theme
• Allow to change pinned icons ICO files with any other
• Support pinned tiles as well
• Maybe add support for UWP pinned apps
