App crashing all the time

Hello, I love this app, truly one of the best out there but I have a problem on my phone, it keeps crashing, i'd like to learn why.

The things i suspect are either RAM related since my phone isn't the best, it only has 4GB of RAM or network, maybe it doens't prebuffer all that well and crashes if network runs out? Even though, it happens both on 4G and wifi.

I tried cloning your repo locally and opening it up in Android Studio and then used the DEBUG tool to install the debug version and to see the logs, but it didn't work .. it didn't want to add sources, perhaps there are some settings missing?

Anyway, if there's any ideas out there, i'd appreciate it.

I use Spotify source

I have enabled "unoptimized" battery for this app so it "shouldn't" kill it but who knows what Android is doing under the hood

when it crashes, i open it back up and then it says "No sources available" when you press play ... so then I have to go out of the app and go into "App Info", Force close it, reopen and then play ... and this happens only after a few songs. Sometimes quicker sometimes takes a bit longer ...

not sure what else to check?

Implement services as plugins to reduce code size (disk + ram)

Hey, congratulations on the first release of the new Blade!

It says you are going to add more services to Blade in your todo list. This seems like a great idea, as Blade could be a single central music player for all services while also playing from your local library, but I'm worried that it'd get bloated as a consequence. If this is the case, do you think it'd be better if additional services (or even including Spotify) are implemented as a plugin that can be installed separately, like Vanilla Music's extra functionality?

Thank you for your efforts thus far, I'm sure Blade will get way more popular once you start adding some essential music player features.

Ability to add/remove albums from Spotify

In the same way we can already add/remove songs or playlists from our Spotify playlists. This way we don't have to use the official app for this.

Ability to sort, filter and other improvements to library

I have a very large library, mostly albums, so scrolling through the artists, albums and songs is a pain. I'd like to suggest some things to make the experience even better:

• Add sorting options to Artists, Albums, Songs and Playlists such as, by added date, release date (Albums), number of songs (Albums/Artists), name. All of them with the options of reverse sorting.

• ✔ Add filters: So if you have many albums, chances are, some of them may have featuring artists/collaborations and that will add up the amount of artists to your library with many artists with only one or very few songs, cause they only feature in a song of an album, which would make your Artists section huge, it'd be nice to be able to filter artists by number of songs, so you can hide, say, artists with less than 5 songs. Some other filtering idea could be by genre (Artists/Albums).

• Add fast scrolling on the right edge of the screen with an indicating letter popping out as you scroll.

• ✔ Don't go back to the top whenever you open an artist/album/playlist and go back to the main section, i.e. if you go down on your artists library an open Elvis Presley and then go back, it will go to the top of your artists section.

• ❌ Make the Sinchronize button consistent on landscape and vertical view. On landscape view, you get to see the icon, whether on vertical view you have to click on the 3 dots tor an option on the menu.

These are only ideas, I don't know to what extent they can be implemented or not, I'd write more ideas and hopefully I could contribute to something, like the Spanish translation, let me know if needed. I'm enjoying a lot this software :)

New interface

I don't know if it's already in mind, but an improvement to the interface would be cool to modernize it, perhaps including material you.

Spotify more user friendly

Have recently discovered the player. It works very well even with Spotify very reliable. But the operation with Spotify is very cumbersome. I would like it if the operation with Spotify would be a little nicer and better similar to Spotube would be cool.

Spotify: Authentication error (Could not login)

As the title says - I cant login. The credentials are correct. Tried both with email and username.

Album Artist tag

Hi,
When playing with the local library it would be nice to have an option to sort the "Artist" by "Album Artist" tag, like many other players do.
Otherwise your player is really nice to use with spotify!

Cache size limitation settings

Hello, I have a question.

I have observed that the more songs I play, the larger the cache memory.

What is stored in the cache? Are there perhaps the songs for later playback cached or what is stored there between?

How does Blade work without Premium?

I had a Spotify Premium account when I first set up Blade, but I don't have a premium subscription anymore. How does Blade still play music from Spotify?

Not all playlists get imported

I have a total of 91 playlists with about 147k tracks in total. Syncing does not seem to import all of them. They are for the most part liked playlists and I have clicked "add to profile" on all of them.

Maybe this is an API limitation but some other third party services I am using do not seem to have that problem.

Let me know whether I can help to trace down the issue.

Remember last played when you open the app

I'm using an app called PodAlarm together with Blade Player that let's you chose any app to set it up as your alarm. After you chose an app to play music/podcasts/radio, what it does is, it opens the chosen app and then it'll send a play command to the app, in my case Blade, so you have to have something ready to be played. Since Blade when it first opens doesn't show your last played song in your last played playlist, before bed I chose an album to be played, stop it, and let the app open. It's working great, but it would be even better and more reliable if the app would open always with the last played, so in the case it gets closed or you forget to select something and leave it opened, it will always play something.

No SoundCloud source support

The Fdroid repo description is misleading, there is no support for SoundCloud

Add Export library options

I'd be nice to being able to export our library (artists/albums/songs/playlists) to a txt/csv... file, just in case we lose our account or something. I don't know if we can already access it with some file explorer, they sure are locally stored, but can't find any Blade folder on my Android.

Feature request: Other music sources

Are you looking to add self hosted music sources a any point? I'm looking for a player that lets me stream my own music from my NAS that also offers Play Random Album feature.

Allow explore search to search for playlists in Spotify

Please add public playlists to the search function for the exploration tab. The ability to like/follow playlists via the authorized account would make this app perfect.

Not a major issue.
While adding local storage in the sources, tapping on "Grant permission..." does not do anything. It should take you to the all files access page.

Add history of songs

Just that, add a section History when you can see your last (50?) songs.

Can't play or setup source under VPN

Hi,
When connected with VPN, either playing a song or trying to setup the spotify source will fail.
Wireguard: nothing working
OpenVPN: can play a song
Stealth by Proton: can play a song

This is just a very quick test, it might not be completely accurate

Do you have any idea of why this is happening?

Weird bugs due to my poor understanding of librespot or spotify weirdness

Well first bug:
Go to App
Click on any Music
The Music will start in the first second in double time or something.

second bug;
Sometimes the app just dont play music, so i have to close it and start it again.

btw thanks for app using it as a privacy friendly alternative for Spotify :)

Spotify audio quality

Small question, is it possible to set the spotify audio quality? I didn't see it in the settings.

Default Opening Tab

Add default opening tab option between Artists, Albums, Playlists, Songs in Settings so the user would be able to select which tab will open up in startup

Android Auto

An Android Auto could be very good for the app, maybe something similar to VLC for android auto

track order messed up on multi cd albums

If the album on my library has more than one cd, the order of the tracks isn't right, they go 101, 201, 102, 202, 103, 203... take this as an example.
I don't know if this can be solved or we should get around it by creating a playlist for these albums. OT: any way to access spotify web or some unofficial client that let's you add/remove albums or create playlists? I just don't want the official player installed only for this. This is an amazing app! thanks!

Categorize local search the same as explore search

At the moment you can only search for song titles. However, I often also want to search for artists. Adding this seems to be fairly simple. But thinking a little further, searching for playlists or albums could be needed as well. The search probably should differ depending on the currently selected category in the navigation drawer. Here are my thoughts:

artists -> search for artists
albums -> search for album name and artist
songs -> search for song title and artist
playlists -> search for playlist name
