springtrader's Introduction

springtrader is no longer actively maintained by VMware, Inc.

SpringTrader getting started guide is available under github wiki

SpringTrader uses Gradle to Build

Either re-clone, or shut down STS after deleting projects and remove all Eclipse metadata files (.project, .classpath, .settings) - or see cleanEclipse below - but it's important to do it the first time.

Commands:

  • ./gradlew build release
  • ./gradlew cleanEclipse (deletes eclipse metadata files)
  • ./gradlew eclipse (created metadata files)
  • ./gradlew install - installs jars/poms in local maven repo

Import springtrader in Springsource Tool Suite (STS):

  • Right click in Project Explorer and select Import -> Import...

  • Choose Existing Project into Workspace

  • Set root directory to full path of springtrader

  • Select all Projects and click Finish

  • You should see following projects in STS

    spring-nanotrader-asynch-services spring-nanotrader-data spring-nanotrader-services spring-nanotrader-service-support spring-nanotrader-web spring-nanotrader-chaos

  • From STS main menu click Projects -> Build Automatically

Deploy springtrader to tc Server in STS:

  • Right click spring-nanotrader-services and select Run As -> Run On Server

  • Choose tc Server Developer Edition for server and click Next

  • Drag following projects from Available to Configured column

    spring-nanotrader-asynch-services spring-nanotrader-services spring-nanotrader-web

  • Click Finish

  • Wait for server to start and then browse to http://localhost:8080/spring-nanotrader-web

springtrader's Issues

SQLFire requires the hostname to be resolvable.

SQLFire requires the hostname to be resolvable, had to add my hostname to /etc/hosts for 127.0.0.1. The install guide already specifies adding "127.0.0.1 localhost nanodbserver" to /etc/hosts but you must also make sure your host name is resolvable in DNS or is in /etc/hosts.

Getting Started Guide - Copy to tcServer directory permissions problem

In the "Deploy SpringTrader in tc Server" section, the commands operating within the tcServer directory structure were forbidden due to insufficient privileges. I got around this by granting my user permission within the directory structure:

sudo chmod a+rx vfabric-tc-server-standard
cd vfabric-tc-server-standard
sudo chown -R myuser:myuser springtrader

I was then able to perform the rest of the procedure as written.

tc Server must be ran as root

Because GemFire tries to access the file "/vf.gf.dmn-license.cfg" tc Server must be ran as root, which is not recommended.

The exception generated if tc Server is ran under the tcserver user is:

Caused by: com.gemstone.gemfire.LicenseException: Failed to access/create local file /vf.gf.dmn-license.cfg: java.io.IOException: Permission denied

tc Server JVM_OPTS modification

The tc Server JVM_OPTS (JVM_OPTS="-Xmx1024m -Xss192K -XX:MaxPermSize=192m") in setevn.sh could be part of the tc Server template. Also as per the current instructions users should replace, not add, the JVM_OPTS.

Spring Trader applicationContext.xml STS Validation Error

Hello,
I posted this on stackoverflow as well. If you answer it there, I'll be sure to give you the points.

http://stackoverflow.com/questions/17048564/spring-trader-applicationcontext-xml-sts-validation-error

The STS IDE shows an error in the applicationContext.xml in the below snippet. The error states a duplicate definition of id="dataSource" in the second "beans" element definition at line:

<jee:jndi-lookup id="dataSource" jndi-name="jdbc/nanodb" />

Here's the specific error:
Attribute : id
The unique identifier for a bean. A bean id may not be used more than once within the same element.
Data Type : string

It appears to be related to the definition in the first "beans" element. Removing the line from the first beans definition causes the error to go away. Since the definitions are in different "beans" elements, why is this error being reported?

false org.hibernate.dialect.DerbyDialect validate /util:properties true org.hibernate.dialect.PostgreSQLDialect validate /util:properties Why does STS show this as an error?

Environment : STS 3.2.0.RELEASE, Windows

Thanks!
Steve

Handle database (SQLFire) reconnections automatically

If the web application(s) in tc Server are started before SQLFire they will fail to run. Ideally they could be started in any order and if the database/SQLFire were to go down the connection could be recovered when it comes back up.

BeanCreationException: Error creating bean with name 'accountController'

I have configure the project as specified in README.

but when I try to run spring nanotrader services app, STS console is showing the below error.
The code is same as in the GitHub,
Please some one can help ? Thanks in advance
