error when trying to pass multiple values via array

I have a relation like this

model User extends ActiveRecord
{

      public function getChilds()
      {
             return $this->hasMany(UserFriend::className(), ['parent_id' => 'id']);
      }

     public function getIdChilds()
     {
             return ArrayHelper::getColumn($this->childs, 'child_id', []);
     }
}

and I want to have an input like this

$users = User::find()
    ->select(['name', 'id'])
    ->indexBy('id')
    ->column();

$form->field($modelUser, 'idChilds')->checkboxList($users);
// this one works

$form->field($modelUser, 'idChilds')->widget(
    'vova07\select2\Widget',
     ['items' => $users]
)
// this one throws error because tries to convert the array to string 

since its using the Html::activeTextInput() method

Selected item by Ajax

I know that this is not an issue, but I need to set the selected item by Ajax.
Could you give me a clue?

rename Widget to Select2 or Select2Widget

Option 'tags' is not allowed for Select2 when attached to a <select> element

Pre Selected Options are not displaying

It is not mentioned anywhere how to display the preselected options.
Is there any way to display preselected option.
