Unable to run the algo for large data set

Hello, I am trying to run the code for a matrix 5000x662. It runs forever. Any suggestions on how to reduce the computation time?

Fails simple test case

Hey there,

Maybe I'm using it wrong, but a simple test case (from wikiHow) puts the program into an infinite loop between Step 4 and Step 6. Here is the main method to test it out:

public static void main(String [] args) {
    double[][] matrix = {{10, 19, 8, 15},
                         {10, 18, 7, 17},
                         {13, 16, 9, 14},
                         {12, 19, 8, 18},
                         {14, 17, 10, 19}};
    System.out.println(hgAlgorithm(matrix, "min"));
}

Any ideas as to what might be going on?
