To be more specific, there. Is a problem with 2 bytes characters (diacritics) e.g. č ž ř etc. I think the problem is that you iterate one byte at a time in qr_8bit_byte.rb.

Yep, I know the problem. I just don't have the time, or current 1.9 String knowledge to fix it. Please can someone step in?

I had this issue which was resolved by encoding string argument in CP852
