Kinetic reaction schemes for biomass pyrolysis

This repository contains various kinetic reaction schemes for biomass pyrolysis. Each file plots the conversion for a particular scheme based on a batch reactor example. See the comments in each file for more information.

Usage

Python 3 along with the Matplotlib, NumPy, and SciPy packages are needed to run the examples. Cantera is also used for some of the examples.

The liden_1988.py file uses the kinetic parameters from the Liden 1988 paper to plot the conversion of wood to gas, tar, and char products.

# run the Liden 1988 example from the command line
python liden_1988.py

Plots comparing all the kinetic schemes are provided by the plot_primary and plot_secondary files which use the functions contained in the functions folder.

The scheme used in cpc_2016.py is referred to as the "CPC scheme". It is a combination of the Blasi 1993, Chan 1985, and Liden 1988 kinetic schemes.

References

Kinetic schemes from the references listed below have been included in this repository. Files for a particular scheme are named according to author and year of publication. For example, code related to the Di Blasi 1993 paper is in the file named blasi_1993.py.
