You can sort by checked/unchecked items, which moves checked items down. Does that solve your use-case? I'm not a fan of automatically rearranging items, as explained in #2.

Thanks, I somehow didn't see it. However, it doesn't update in real-time, which makes it less useful when you're on the go.
I agree that it's a risky feature, as you may accidentally check an item (especially in this app where the hitbox is the entire row), but because the rows are big, having all the checked and un-checked items mixed requires more scrolling.
In any case I ended up using OI Shopping List because it has narrower rows, smaller hitboxes (only the checkboxes), real-time sorting and more features I like.

With adding categories (#45) it might be best to have a toggle button to show only unchecked/all items.
This way one could check every bought item while shopping.
And for planing the next shop, one could see all items and uncheck those that are needed (the would then be arleady in the correct category.
