Wox Plugin: Switcheroo

image

Switcheroo

Switcheroo is for anyone who spends more time using a keyboard than a mouse. Instead of alt-tabbing through a (long) list of open windows, Switcheroo allows you to quickly switch to any window by typing in just a few characters of its title. It's inspired by Emacs's IDO mode buffer switching and JetBrains' ReSharper.

wox.plugin.switcheroo's Issues

Switcheroo not showing some Windows

Hello, I want to ask, some system windows on Windows doesn't showed on Switcheroo for Wox. Is there anyway possible fix for it? And sometimes I can't switch window need 2 until 3 times until it succeed, is there any possible way fix too? Thanks

Does not switch to correct virtual desktop (Windows 10)

Switcheroo lists windows from all virtual desktops, but if selected window is in another virtual desktop, I still have to navigate to it myself. I think it would be nice if Switcheroo would do that. Maybe we could use this repo to achieve such functionality. If that seems ok, I could look into it.

Sorting windows list by taskbar order

Please, add option of sorting windows list by taskbar order. It seems be useful to have windows sorted in the same way every time user press Alt+Tab.

Wox shown in list

Wox is shown in the windows switch list. Logically this should not be show as it is the current active window, and being used to switch windows.

Switcheroo Will not work if There's same Windows Title

Hello, I just noticed, since I use Wox alot on my machine and remove windows explorer using another alternative shell and put wox as primary tool for switch windows and start menu and etc, I realize sometimes while I use alt+tab there's problem with switcheroo, which're there any windows that having exact same name, they only appear once on switchero and I should use Task Manager to switch between it, really frustating sometimes.. Maybe you can add it to bug section, thanks

It should remember last switched program.

It should remember the last switched program and should make that as top most item while switching again. So that the user will not have to type anything just pressing the ENTER key would be enough.

[Bug] Alt + Tab Override with * Action Keyword

When you set the action keyword to *, enable the Override Alt Tab with Switcheroo option, and then press alt + tab it populates the Wox search field with * which needs to be manually deleted before being able to type the search query.

If the action keyword is set to *, alt + tab should not populate the Wox input with anything.

[feature request]

Hi there,
First I'd like to thank you so much that this plugin is my favorite, it saved my life!

Second, I'd like you to help add a new feature: enable to start a new window for an application, the workflow will look like:

  1. the user searches "win: chrome"
  2. list all the open windows for chrome application, and in the end the list it is the command list to start a new window for keyword "chrome" (which is the default wox behavior)

so when I search for "win: chrome" will look like,

  • Chrome - google.com
  • Chrome - reddit.com
  • start chrome (c:/chrome50/chrome.exe)
  • start chrome (c:/chrome55/chrome.exe)
  • start post man google chrome (chrome apps/postman.lnk)

Why the user will need this feature:

Actually, I am just switching from Mac alfred app to windows platform, this is a really amazing feature alfred offered and really liked Mac users:
just think about it: with one command to switch between open windows or start a new window, will really make the user experience.

Thanks.

Make app name more important than window title

Hello,

Switcheroo plugin is great - that's almosts exactly what I was mainly looking for when trying different launchers. Following is of course just a proposal and I'm aware that it might not be the most popular usecase or user's excectation ...though, I think it is and that's why I'd like to discuss it.

In my opinion in case of switching opened windows, user is mainly intereset in application name and not title of the window. For example, when trying to switch to the browser, this plugin focuses on the window title mostly - being title of currently focused tab. In my case, I don't exactly remember what page I was browsing and I just want to switch to the browser quickly.

There are, of course, opposite situations - e.g. when you have ten different windows of Windows Explorer opened and you want to switch to specific folder. I think, thought, that it still would be possible taking my suggestion into account - application name would be just more prefered.

I would also like to sugggest filping app name with windows title visually - to be consistent with that way of thinking.

One more time, this is just a humble idea - I would love to hear your thoughts, though.

Provide pre-built release for installations that cannot use wpm

Some environments only allow sanctioned browsers to make outgoing connections (such as firefox, chrome, etc.) and in such cases, "wpm install <plugin_name>" will not work.

Could you provide a zip with a pre-built version of the Switcheroo plugin that can be unzipped into the Wox plugins folder?

Switcheroo shows cloaked apps on Windows 10.

Windows 10 runs some apps like settings, calculator, etc. in cloaked mode, to run them faster for user. They are listed in Switcheroo even without starting them by user (it's kind of a new mode for that apps). It would be nice to filter them away.
