This is also an issue when filtering TV Shows...

  1. Browse to the TV show section.
  2. Setup a filter.
  3. Browse into a TV shows season list.
  4. Back out to the TV show section and the filter you spent time setting up has been reset.

From the PR:
"Hm I have discussed this with jmarshall and we decided that hitting back on a filtered list should remove the filter. Here is how it works for me when using the Backspace key: filtered list -> unfiltered list -> home screen. And when using the ESC key: filtered list -> home screen"

So I think it works as designed.

Well, in fact the concept is part of the problem, namely that it doesn't correspond to what the user expects:
Currently you can define a filter, but it will be deleted with almost every subsequent action. It then has to be laboriously redefined. That doesn't make sense.
(or you leave it up to the user in the form of an option setting how the filter should behave, current behavior <--> permanent filter)

Sure, but that's not what we are discussing. We are talking about returning to a filtered list, not hitting back on it.

  1. Browse to the TV show section and set up a filter.
  2. Browse into a TV shows season list.
  3. Back out of the season list to the filtered list of TV shows and the filter is now gone... This is not the same as pressing back on the filtered list.

As @malvinas2 says if you filter a list of movies then play one upon returning to the list it should still be filtered not reset to the default list.

I do agree that if you press back on a filtered list the filter should reset but it should not reset if returning to the filtered list from a child list e.g. seasons, episodes or just playback.

The current implementation makes filters pretty useless, any action you perform after setting the filter resets the filter you just spent time setting up :(
