FakeCommerce Assessment

Questions:

  1. Looking at revenue by month, would you say that there is seasonality for this business?

    • With data being limited to the timeframe of January of 2019 to April of 2019, there isn't sufficient data to draw conclusions around monthly seasonality. However, daily revenue indicates that Sundays and Mondays tend to be slower than the rest of the week.
  2. What percentage of revenue is attributed to first time orders?

    • roughly 85% with a similar percentage of orders being first time orders
  3. What aspects of the data would you want to discuss with a client?

    • In terms of the data itself, I'd like to better understand the payments as it relates to orders. Revenue reported on the orders table doesn't seem to lineup with the revenue numbers coming from the payments table.

    • In terms of what analysis I'd recommend doing with this data, I typically like to run orders tables through lifetimes to produce a recency + frequency matrix to get a sense of customer purchasing cycles and retention.
