git-from-scratch's Introduction

Git-From-Scratch

I work with git for like a lot of time and listening to the terms that I don' t have enough knowledge gives me a hit.

So, here I am, figuring out how git may work. It is just a trial where I will try to figure out how git may work. Since I am not interested in reading the original mirror of @git so I thought of challenging myself a bit.

Vision

A git that everyone can understand. It will have the necessary documentation about the hypothesis proposed for the project. Since It is just a timepass project, therefore I will be using it to Version Control a simple file that contains data as

1
2
3
4

Any change in the file will be checked and then stored. I will make it a heavy VCS and then make it comply with space efficiency (ik it is difficult to do, when you're going on with the intuition that your hypothesis is correct :P)

Language

I will be using javascript for making this project. I dont have any specific reason for choosing this language. Let's just go with the flow.

git-from-scratch's Issues

Discussion: Add situational scenarios for the learning experience

We should add scenario based learning experience for the users. eg.

When the user visits the app for the first time we need to let the user fork the repository mirroring the behaviour on Github. Then the user can clone the project using the terminal on the web app. We need to give insights to the user at each step.

Please add your views on how we can implement the situational scenarios for the learning experience

visualize : implement terminal

create a terminal on the left hand side of the page. Switch to visualize branch in this repository to work on this feature.
check the angular frontend, git-visualize and search for the terminal.component and make a terminal.

The terminal.component must be made to comply with the theme of the linux terminal.

Further bugs and features will be created as issues and can be worked upon later.

Cheers!

Checklist needed in Readme

There should be a checklist in documentation which will show the goals achieved and milestones to be covered.

Front End Stack

React with thumbs +1 or thumbs down -1 we can decide the stack.

visualize : implement tree

implement the tree component on the right hand side of the page. Switch to visualize branch in this repository to work on this feature.
check the angular frontend, git-visualize and search for the tree.component and implement tree there.

The tree.component must be made to comply with the realtime changes occuring in the left hand side of the page, i.e. terminal.component.

Further bugs and features will be created as issues and can be worked upon later.

Cheers!
